First Quilt: Alright, I admit, I cheated on my first quilt. There are many "Picture Pattern" fabrics available out there, now, which makes it easy to start learning to quilt. My next project will be much harder, but these are fun and easy to do.

Grandmother's Quilt (top): When I was born, my grandmother made a quilt out of my grandfather's old shirts. She gave it to me when I got married. Several years' use and too many washings to count has seen it start to fall apart, so I'm building a new one, based on her pattern, which is a variation on the Album Cross pattern. I have to respect her work, though. The original was all hand-sewn.

The quilt above is the quilt I am making for my English Paper Piecing Quilting class. It's called a Dresden Plate.

I'm making this one for my sister, for our birthday. The overall pattern is called the "Twin Sisters" quilt, but the block is called by many names, including "Paddle wheel" or "Windmill". My sister picked out the colors she wanted me to use and helped me embroider the hearts.
