It was in June
of 1986,
take a look
...
Mr. & Mrs. Rudy Borruso and Mr. & Mrs.
Jim Mulaney
Flight Attendants
become of age ! Retirement age, that is. JFK and EWR based
co-workers honored a group of flight attendants, pilots and ground personnel.
The festivities were held at the Bayside Yacht Club. Flight attendants
Rudy Borruso and Jim Mulaney were two of those honored.

You might remember Rudy for his ability to
sound remarkably like a barking dog. How about the time he
got F/A Irene Console* into hot water when they were clearing Customs in
London? Great Britain has a strict quarantine rule for
dogs entering the country. The Customs officers were convinced that
Irene was concealing a dog in her bag. No amount of pleading
on her part could convince them otherwise, not until Rudy 'let the
cat out of the bag'......oops, that should be dog.

Another retiree..........
F/A Nick Plackis was among those retiring at that
time. Here he is surrounded by Ruby Stocker, Marylou Fitzgerald Lee*
and Lucy Mejia*. (Mrs. Teddy Mejia)
How many times did Nick show you how to insert
the coffee bag into the coffee maker, no matter what your seniority or
how often you flew with him?
Just look
at these two guys.........doesn't it just bring the biggest smile
to your face?
That's F/A Eddie Gibbons, another of the retirees
sharing smiles with F/A Ramon Aviles* who came up
from SJU just to attend this party.

As a very young man in his home town in Ireland,
Eddie was an extra in the John Wayne movie, "The Quiet Man." (Remember
that one?) That is when the movie business bug bit him.
He joined EAL and while working as a F/A he also played the drums in a
band at various functions, owned and operated a bar, "Potsheen Stil", and
an Irish import store. Became very successful, with homes in
Florida, New York and Ireland. Now he has added another "hat" to
his collection, he is producing and making video productions for (QPTV)
Queens Public Television here in NY. Eddie didn't achieve this
alone, he had the help and support of his wonderful wife, Mary.
