"Only we, the bearers of true will, can change the course of a mighty river."

-Lucas d'Marabo

he Royal Coterie is consistent of those Kindred of "higher breeding", brought together by fate to demonstrate structure, balance, and control of the city. In the formation of Portage as a true Camarilla city, the menagerie of Vandala, Guenevere, Blade, and Lucas stood together to coordinate a renaissance. The small heirarchy that formed has been able to maintain its frame, though throught the past three years, a lot of fluctuation has caused cracks to form. Before the Royal Coterie took over, Portage was a simple country town, and a breeding ground for kine. No real business existed in the city, and almost the entire populous lived there only to gain easy access to a blue collar job, the american dream. Portage lies only minutes away from Gary, but the difference between the two is that Gary had formed a strong lifestyle around the Steel Mills. A commercial economy kept the city up. Unfortunatly when the Steel Mills died, most of that economy came with it. Portage however, being completely residential, did not take on similiar scars. Instead, those who lost work merely moved their labor to the city of Chicago, and stayed in Portage. As the name implies, the city acts as the break in between two rivers, those being the proverbial rivers of life. A trading community with its ports and access to Lake Michigan were quickly noted as being useful. Portage is nothing but a herd of cattle in a cage. What better place for Kindred to reside.

The Royal Coterie has made moves to turn this city from a nothing little town into a thriving Port. With Lodin gone, the Steel Mills which ravaged the economy can be revived. To maintain Portage's growth, however, the Coterie will have to attract attention away from the richer and more business like atmospheres of Gary, Merrillville, and Valparaiso: Three deeply involved local cities. If Portage can gain complete control of the coast, it will be the Camarilla's new link to the most inland of the Great Lakes. With Boons on there way, People flocking in, and a hidden underground that is ignored by the people, blinded by their parents idea of the American Dream, the Royal Coterie believes most erneastly that it will survive. The only thing that lies in the way is the paranoid structure of the minds of all the Kindred in charge. A spiteful prince, a power hungry lady, a lost woman, a crack of logic, and a keen watcher now stand together to unite what is left and build into something new.
