The 22 year old singer and actress Aaliyah haughton, was one of the eight people who died when the twin engine plane they were travalling in crashed seconds after taking off from the Bahamas.

Aaliyah was in the Bahamas shooting the video for her new single.

She died instantly when the plane, a Cessna 402b, exploded on impact just 200 feet beyond the end of a runway at Marsh Harbour International Airport on Abaco Island at 6;45 pm.

Others killed in the accident where Aaliyah's make up artist Eric Foreman, 29 & Virgin representative Douglas Kratz, 28.

Two other women and 3 other men died in the crash while one man was trasported with serious injuries to Jackson memorial hospital.

In July Aaiyah released her self titled third album, which found her moving away from club beats towards more introspective, midtempo numbers.
The album features 'We need a resolution', one of the 3 songs she recorded with producer & frequent collaborator Timberland.

Aaliyah who starred together with Jet Li in 'Romeo must die' was supposed to play in the sequel of The Matrix.

Her first album 'Age ain't nothing but number' came out in 1994 when she was only 15.

Aaliyah, you were an inspiration for many artists, you were talented and beautiful...I'm sure the world will miss you but you'll keep on livin' in the heart of your beloved ones.
