( november 1999 - february 2002 )

as of monday february 25th the french new wave will no longer be an established band.  there are a million reasons why things have ended so abruptly and i'll take the credit for that.  the break up was on good terms and we will be playing some final shows which are sure to be filled with much happiness and tears.  the french new wave is hands down the best musical experience i have ever been a part of.  i remember the first time i heard aaron play guitar - rather wasted of course, but that's beside the point - and recruiting dan (who listened to nothing but mxpx and ska punk at the time, boy did we turn him on to some good music!).  and of course, who can ever forget luke, the wild stares and crazy smiles that have made even sloppy shows so much fun.  these guys rock and i'll miss practicing in dank basements for two hours once every month and stealing underwear on tour (oops!).  oh and i'm sorry, i almost forgot our beloved roadie frank.  thanks for nothing!  but my hearts not in it and that makes it not very fun sometimes.  not to mention that my life is kinda crazy at the moment for various reasons.  it's so over done but let me tell you, when people say their hearts not in it anymore, it really is true.  so like i said, we have some final shows, i hope each and every one of you can make it out to one if not more:

friday, february 15th @ ryan's bar / combined locks, wi w/ sounds like braille, andrew hawthorne, this bright apocalypse

friday, february 22nd @ the new moon / oshkosh, wi w/ red shirt brigade, w. von brohm, sunday flood

saturday, february 23rd @ the catacombs / madison, wi w/ red shirt brigade, w. von brohm

sunday, february 24th @ the blue moon / neenah, wi w/ w. von brohm, new kentucky quarter

please come out to these shows, if for nothing else other than to see the amazing red shirt brigade!  oh my.  we love those guys.

say, didn't you just record a new ep?  yes indeed we did.  to say these sessions went smoothly would be fooling ourselves.  when your bass player gets food poisoning half-way through recording that's not good either, i'm sure the four of us (and master engineer justin perkins) can attest to that.  but i hear the recording sounds really good (i myself have not listened to it) and it would have been a great ep.  if any of you want a copy, i can burn a cd for you.  justin said he wants to do a remix of it so it will be a few weeks before any of us will be getting the final product in our hands.

in other related news, we have just received copies of the new compilation cd on arborvitae records "foreign nationals".  our track "birth of romance" is the closer.  now tell me what we are going to do with 85 copies of this thing???  if you are interested in this cd, please email me or come to one of our final shows (or come to the cd release show on feb 15th!).  we also have a bunch of copies of our debut cd-ep "light plus motion equals cinema" and the "make way for no karma" compilation cd.

thanks everyone, you have all made this band experience amazing...
