#16 Oiltown Riggers (TMF12)

The Oiltown Riggers struggled early in the IICC and were not able to recover in time to make a serious push towards the playoffs.  But don't let their finish fool you, one look at their SLH Division and you'd see, they are quite capable of dishing out beatings.  They currently(at time of this writing) sit tied atop SLH's ultra-tough 5-1-1 division where they have even managed to lead the IICC's #1 ranked Garden Warriors in points.  They even have a win this season against the legendary Warriors.  The Riggers represent the west coast of Canada and do it to the delight of all their fans. The current IICC has been a learning experience for them and they should be a huge threat when it comes time for IICC2.

Accomplishments: (as of 04/08/04) (Division 5-1-1-1)
Super Cup,5 League Cups, 5 Playoff Cups, 3 Time Champions Shield Runner Up
Coach Says: (His Words Again)
When I was approached by the president of Encana Oil and Gas about managing a team of oilfield personnel I thought he and his entire committee were nuts. Then I saw some of the names on the roster and I became less skeptical. Then I saw these guys play and I was sold. These guys love to play old school hockey, Eddie Shore style and still have loads of talent to skate and pass with the best of them. The scary thing is they're just starting to come into their own. Everybody out their in Iggy server land better keep your head up!! The Riggers are coming for you!!
Team Origin: (His words)
The Oiltown Riggers are named of my hometown of Edmonton, Alberta. And as I work in the oil and gas field that expands the province of Alberta, I thought I would name the team after the area's primary resource. Now the team cosists mainly of rig hands and oilfield service personnel who have are being sponsored by the industry to represent Northern Alberta in Senior League Hockey.

We are fortunate enough to have many relatives of NHL players on our team. Some born and raised in Northern Alberta, including Luke Bouwmeester and Chris Isbister. Some immigrated with their brothers who now play for the Oilers such as Andy Hemsky and Adam Semenov and others.

We have been with SLH since the beginning and had a great deal of success right off the bat, finishing 2nd in league play and eventually winning the playoff title that first year. Four more consecutive playoff titles followed until the Premier Division of 5-1-1 was reached and despite taking the division title the playoffs were lost to the reigning champion Come by Chance who has since retired.

Moderate success has been obtained in 5-1-1 with 2 division titles and 1 playoff title. As the division continues to grow and become more challenging, a recent rebuild has left the Oiltown Riggers in a strong position to add to their trophy chest. As long as the money continues to flow from the oil and gas industry of Northern Alberta, the Oiltown Riggers will compete in the IICC, Iggy Cup and 5-1-1.
