Well, let's see here the Lancaster show was a crazy ass show. No one showed up but it was awesome. We played first and Bucket broke a string, of course and Todd did too but we just fucked around and they liked us. Then the Skunkx played. Ya see the kids from 717 were all straight edge and the Skunkx didn't like that. The bass player started yelling stuff like "this ones for all the stupid sxe kids here, ya bunch of retards" which I thought was cool of him cuz he was totally out numbered. So 717 left and didn't even play cuz they were all pissed off. In the end it was all worth it though, cuz we had fun and Gettysburg ruled too. Oh yeah, Jer from the Skunkx asked us if we want to come back in May, so thats cool. Maybe someone will show up this time.

This was a cool show it was at Pancakes Skatepark in Washington, Pa. There weren't that many people there but it was just an awesome place to play. We played first, then Need For Justice played (they were awesome) then Ellen Degenerates played (they ruled too). I dont remember much more about that show, it was awesome though.

The show was good. The artists formerly known as 3 days of darkness were good. The Mad Cows were good. The show had hamburgers and stuff I guess, I didn't get to eat any. The ceiling was low, I'm surprised it didn't break. I'm surprised everything didn't break. Rossiter Hardcore will never die.

ok im not reviewing the lancaster show.....i'm reviewing the SICK OF IT ALL show we went to in state college....

omg it was phenominal...we actually took 10 people in jdc's van... we could have taken more but some kids got better things to do than go see SOIA.(like share 15 beers play playstation and just sit aroud and get drunk at dans house like they do everynite of the week and sit around and complain how there is nothing ever to do....and just listen to SOIA on cd ........thats a true sign that these kids have done way too much X....)but thats another story......

well lets see ...josh has a half ton van and we had like 10 tons in his van and if you know anything about jdc's van you know that it has a quallity engine ....in tip top shape.....and a top speed of 45 mph......( we were going less than 20mph at times up hill).....so like 2and a half hours later we arrive in state college right....so we get there and are just walking the streets and took us quite some time to just ! find the place and we got there .....

it only cost a buck.....there was some local state college band (chin-music) and they opened....they were prettty good...then some band i dont know there name cuz i went t o mcdonalds played second they were ok....sounded kinda like cause for alarm / 7 seconds style ....i think they were from NJ. then third was skycamefalling....from NY.... they were ok .....but not quite my style.....then came SICK OF IT ALL......soon as they started all hell broke loose....total chaos....they ruled played a ton of classic soia song .....excellent show.. lou spit in my face when he was singing....fuckin awsome...they played for a very long time.....did an encore and everything they sounded great.. it was one of the best shows i have ever seen........

so after the show we go back to the van...throw some firecrackers off the parking garage...drive down the parking garage and this guy is behind us honkin his horn..right....so garret opens his door and screams FUCK OFF...and hes like flipping the guy off...and stuff....so josh pulls over the guy gets out of his car and were like .....guess it looks like were gonna have to beat his asss....and then the guy walks up to josh and before the guys can say anything josh goes.....I DIDNT DO IT MAN...then the guys say ....hey do you want a cypruss hill sticker for your van.....so we all laugh and said hell ya....so now josh has a big cypress hill sticker on his van......so we went home.....it took forever.......and stuff and thats about all......all i gotta say is sick of it all rules.....the show was phenominal........

THE SHOW:

First off: this show was awesome, both performance-wise and from the fact that the show offered up so much: a great idea, great area bands, great music, great planning, and great audience support. I feel especially lucky that I was entitled to a "backstage pass" (so to speak) over at the sound & lights table. It was really fun... right up until the end... then it wasn't so much fun anymore.

The show was shut down before it was supposed to end and in a very non-diplomatic manner. Why? Reasons cited were: alleged fights and vandalism, alleged police reports, alleged vandalism, alleged violations for the sound being too loud, smoking, loitering, alleged liquor control board checks for alcohol use, and it would seem: being young and having fun... and trying our best to have fun in a positive way and even maybe giving the adults in town a "night off" from having to keep the local kids preoccupied and "out of trouble."

You know what I mean... not all of us "kids" are perfect angels. You can open up the Punxsy Spirit any day of the week and check out the police reports of fights and vandalism and other juvenile crimes. This happens on a regular basis anyhow, throughout the week, even when there is NOT a show where "loud, obnoxious, noisy punk bands were playing and bringing out social deviants and riff raff, then stirring them all into a violent frenzy." Hey, I checked the paper on the following Monday (the show was Saturday) and I didn't see a single (and haven't yet) report of vandalism or a fight taking place that could be blamed as a result of the MAD COWS show. In fact, the reports of vandalism and fighting that WERE listed on Monday were all far from the Elks Lodge and were (guess what) committed by adults, and that means people over the age of 25. (at least according to the Elks apparently, this is another problem with the Elks that I will not discuss here)

Furthermore, we have had numerous shows at the Elks Lodge over the years (anyone remember Hallowpalooza '95-99? or the Mad Cows CD Release Party?) and this is the FIRST time we have ever had any major problems or (more closely) the report of any major problems with conduct. (I am not even sure that everything that was said to have happened actually happened... I was too busy supervising inside, as we were instructed to do).

THE TOWN:

All those shows and the worst complaint we had were that the windows were opened once. Now, none of that matters. You screw up once; you screw up forever at the Elks I guess. And that seems to be the case for most of Punxsy, really. No one even wants to give the kids another chance because they are SURE that we'll just screw it up. And what really hurts the most, if all of this stuff actually did occur, is the fact that we might have proven to them that they were right. We gave them ammo to fight with and now they can always bring up "that one time" and hold it over all of the times that we had no problems.

THE CROWD:

Now I don't mean to blame just anybody that happened to be at this show, in fact I don't really blame any specific people for what happened, really. Like I've said, the people that have always showed up at MAD COWS shows or anything else that we've sponsored at the Elks are really cool and have always been on their best behavior and respected the rules. This is something that I am always really glad to see and I am extremely grateful to everyone that this applies to. I'm not sure why this show was any different (I really hate to even mention it, but maybe it was because of so many people from outside our area, groups from rival towns maybe --hey, I don't know, I'm not pointing a finger at any of the bands or anything, I'm just trying to figure out how it was different this time).

No matter what, I think the whole thing could have been avoided if the "Elks-In-Charge" (if there indeed were any) would have came to us in a polite manner and simply said, "there seems to be a large group gathered outside, there's been some commotion, we're getting nervous, and something should be done about it." Instead, we hear what was said to be going on outside, unbeknownst to us upstairs/inside, AFTER the alleged incidents have taken place. Not to mention that most of this news was primarily delivered through abrupt interruptions in the bands' performances (especially the Mad Cows' set).

THE FUTURE:

I think this points to a major problem with our town, too. There seems to be little communication or cooperation between the adults and the kids of Punxsy. And neither group seems to want to help the other very much. I think that in the future, both groups need to throw these traditional roles out and learn to find "middle grounds," ways that both groups can be happy.

Adults are always complaining about the problems that happen in town involving youths, but what do the majority of them really do to remedy the situation, what alternatives do they provide, and do they offer to help out with events like MAD COWS shows?

And kids/teens need to realize too, that for "cool" things to happen on a regular basis in town, they/everyone must respect the rules and act in a way that will allow more events to take place. I know many of you do this already, but in order for these rock shows to continue, we all need to be responsible, for ourselves and others, and keep things that might ruin future shows from happening while we're at these events.

Imagine if the MAD COWS could play in town every weekend. It would really be great. However, it isn't gonna happen the way things went at this last show.

I just hope that it doesn't turn out to be THE Last Show.
