Life on the Chao Phraya
Life in Bangkok revolves around the Chao Phraya River and the canals. The waterways are a main artery for transportation, and folks also seem to like splashing around in them (even though the "water" looks like it should dissolve skin on contact). We hear there's an interesting market on the river at some ungodly hour of the morning, but the one time we got up early enough to see it, we only managed to find some seedy alleyways.
Thailand is thick with Buddhist monks. The Chao Phraya's shores are no exception.
