226th Marine Corps Birthday Ball
After a long and ardueous Special Operation Capable Exercise (SOCEX). We were given the chance, by our BLT Commanding Officer, to celebrate our long heritage of the birth of our Corps. This being the first birthday ball that 1st Recon Bn has had in ten years since being formed to a battalion sized element last year.  Brothers from today and years past gathered together to tell tall tales and great sea stories, break bread and indulge in the grog and some dancing.
Cpl. Josh Bell Preparing to shed the blues and trip to light fantastic with the rest of the crew.  After the formalities of the dinner take place a tradition in which the Marines take there coats off to reveal there true colors. The Battalions black PT shirt with the Recon Bn crest.  Somewhere down the line while attending other unit Balls it became an intimidation tactic which the guys all take part in. You know what would happen next!!!
Cpl Rich Schooff gettin' jiggy with it on the dance floor and in the shedding of the blues. I thought the robot went out in the 70's. Get down on it.
Cpl Brian Zeifang cuttin' the rug and clearing off the dance floor at the end of the night as we closed the place down. The only guy I know that can hide a 12oz can in his mitts or a glass for that matter.
Current and former Battalon Commanders, Lt Col Steve Ferrando and "Digger" Odell formed the Battalion for the presentation of the Colors and open up the festivities for the evening. Where the former and current Commanding General's messages were given and the ceremonial cake cutting took place. The oldest and youngest Marine were presented and ate of the cake first.
