As a loosely organized group, our primary goal is to cater to and to provide a unique & unusual venue or location for dancers (beginners to instructor level) to come together for those who love swing, big band, boogie-woogie, jump blues, blues, & ‘50s rock-n-roll music and its associated dance styles. In regards to these particular dance styles, they come in various forms, such as: Lindy Hop (Savoy/Hollywood Style), Jitterbug, Balboa, Shag, West/East Coast, Mambo, Cha-Cha, and others.
Our secondary goal is to promote, enlighten, and propagate our love and joy for swing dancing and its music to the general public and communities throughout the greater Los Angeles area and the southern state region.
Our tertiary goal is to be uninvolved, non-participatory, and non-perpetuating as possible in local business and personal malevolent politics, and rancorous gossip that can be found in any community, group, or organization. This simply does not serve or benefit to any good purpose or advantage for anyone, individually or otherwise. If more aware individuals were to resolutely decide to refrain from participating in such destructive behaviors and situations, then the social dynamics and interactions within every group and community, from large to small, would greatly see a better, more harmonious, successful, and ever improving environment and culture in which one belongs or partakes in. Such matters cannot be properly and timely resolved if most, if not all, are constantly hoping and relying on the fact that others will act, get in involved, and/or do the appropriate thing.
For one of Life's Time-Tested Truths, it clearly dictates that to effect change in any situation, it must first start and eminate with, YOU!! For it is, YOU, that has the opportunity, ability, empowerment to contribute and make a difference for a better situation or circumstance, as well as influence others, by both direct and indirect means. Therefore, as other individuals do the same, then it naturally follows, that the power in cooperative numbers will definitely have a more immediate and longer lasting impact and positive outcome.
With the primary through the tertiary goals in mind, we, individually and as group, hope that we can be instrumental in influencing and persuading many other individuals to become more appreciative and interested in swing dancing and its associated music. Hopefully, leading them to take dance classes, frequent local dance clubs, attend live concerts, swing camps, exchanges, and other special events. And finally, to hopeflully become a long term or more permanent member of the local swing community and in its social circles.
If enough new individuals can be attracted and influenced to join the ranks (after attrition)
and combined with the retainment of existing dancers in their local swing community, then, one can obviously see that this is a good recipe for sustaining and flourishing the swing movement and its vibrant culture, here and abroad.
For our part, as a member of the Greater Los Angeles swing community, we have an open door policy to all other swing event hosts, organizers, and instructors alike to promote and publicize their cause or events at our venue, notably, the Third Street Promenade. In this particular locale, it's one of the very few and rare venues and forums where the swing community have free access to promote their events and causes directly and unencumbered to the general public.
SO PLEASE, SWING COMMUNITY, YOUR'E WELCOMED TO COME ON DOWN TOWARDS THE BEACHSIDE TO TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE OF THIS SITUATION--bring your promotional flyers and brochures with you...& we can make some announcements on your behalf!!! :):o;)
