EXOTIC HARDWOOD OF Central America
MORA WOOD ROCKING CHAIRS
The chair to the left is made of a wood commonly referred to as MORA, the Chlorophora Tinctoria, are 20 to 24 inch diameter tropical forest trees that can reach a height of 80 to 90 feet tall.
The fresh heartwood is bright yellow, drying to a golden yellow. It is sharply demarcated from its off white sapwood. MORA can be difficult to work due to its density, but has a high luster and fine grain that ultimately takes a beautiful finish.
MORA is used in many forms for its strength, but is widely used for flooring, and fine furniture parts. We have searched, and to our knowledge we are the only people manufacturing solid MORA furniture.
