November 23rd 2001 "You'll Laugh 'Till You Get a Hernia"
This last installment of the Tickle me Pickle "sixogy" was one of our most successful pickles to date,"You'll Laugh 'Till You Get a Hernia".  In attendance were the Richmond Improv Team, UBC Improv Team, MP Joe Peschisolido, a "doctor" to treat any hernias and almost 50 audience members.  This was the second battle in the improv war between Richmond and UBC.  After several hours of laughs, laughs and more laughs, UBC was declared the winner, taking with them an oversized jar of Pickles.  This pickle also saw the dawning of our new lime green pickle shirts, one of which Joe Peschisolido took with him. Lime green is definately his colour.  Hernia was an awesome pickle to organize and participate in, and we're all very excited about the next Pickle which is planned for sometime in the Spring.

It's Thursday evening, August 23rd.  Inside Thompson Community Centre are a select number of dedicated "Picklers", as they are know, who are mentally preparing for the upcoming performance in the latest pickle installment, "Just Dillin'".  The group has spent countless hours discussing, organizing and scrutinizing over this show.  The lights in the boardroom where they sit are turned off, and everyone's eyes are shut.  They are doing a mental walk-through of what could happen at tomorrow night's show.  Inside everyone are feelings of confidence and they are all proud that their group hasput together an event that will be fun to be part of.
It's late Thursday Night now and Jon Lee-Son has received an e-mail informing him that the UBC improv team will not be making the performance!  This is a devastating blow to the Pickle Crew!  Jon frantically begins calling the Richmond Improv team membersto organize some sort of group of perfromers.  The pressure is on...
Now it's August 24th, Friday afternoon and show day.  Last minute preparations are going on as a small group of comedians set up for an event that could go either way: success, or a complete and utter flop!  They are all anxious and nervoud, but there seems to be a glimmer of optimism in their eyes...
It's finally show time.  The group is rehearsed, ready and waiting to go on stage.  They realize that all they have to do now is get up there, give it their all, and have fun.  It's like every other "Tickle me Pickle", just without the support of the tried and true UBC team.  Hearts pound as they are introduced...
After performing some introductory games such as "space jump" and the classic "who's line is it anyway?", the pressure seems to be off a bit.  The crowd is getting involved, and to everyone's delight, laughing!  If Jon Lee-Son had a buzz-cut and glasses you might mistake him for Drew Carey, as he does a fabulous job of host for the evening. With his help, and other memorable performances by the team and crowd members, every game is original and utterly hilarious! (phew).  The night continues with prize give-aways given all night long, including awesome treasures such as an autograph from popular recording artist "Ricky J" , and a bag of "Opti-plus" dog food, generously donated by Bosley's pet food.  Open participation is a blast  with rowdy games of "park bench" and "props".  Afterwards the night sadly comes to a close, as everyone congratulates the crew on a job well done, and goes home with sides sore from laughing.  The kids of Pickle have done a great job of pulling everything together, and should be proud of their efforts in making this one of the best pickles yet, even if it did have the most complications.
The crew would to thank al those who showed up, and especially those who particiapted.  We hope to see you all out next time with more friends, and more witty improvisation.  It was a blast, thanks!

Thanks to overwhelming audience support, hilarious performers' antics and the all around hard-work of everyone involved, "It's Not Easy Being Green" was a spectacularly successful event.  We could not have asked for a better night!  As always Richmond had challenged UBC to an improv battle and both teams put up an exceptional fight.  In the end, Richmond won because of the fact that Chris Payne of UBC was not in proper team attire, thus disqualifying him.  Never the less, a harty round of applause should go out to each improver for a great performance.  The theme for our night was "St. Patrick's Day" and this also inspired a new format for the event. The first half of our show consisted of a gold and green leprochaun racing eachother to the end of their rainbow with the help of audience applause.  In the second portion of the evening, 4 leprochans (representing 4 improv duos) raced the rainbow for ultimate improv supremacy.  It was crazy, hilarious and enjoyed by all.  Some memorable moments of the night were Chris Payne playing a convincing "pac man", an impressive musical ditty by Jon and Owen, and a scene set in Henry Kissinger's bathroom.  The crew would like to thank everyone who participated and made this Pickle one of the best yet!  The next pickle is planned for Youth Week in May and who knows what kooky format we'll come up with?

May 31st 2002 "Pickle Night in Canada"
A Hockey themed event enjoyed by all!  This was our longest pickle yet and the first the be without an open participation segment.  The night also marked veteran improver Louie Pearlman's last show for Pickle.  Never missing an excue to buy baked goods for their friends, the kids of Pickle pooled their lunch money and got Louie a loving goodbye cupcake (pictures of this can be viewed in the pictures section)   Below is a copy of the article about the latest pickle published in the June issue of the Night Shift Newsletter:
It was an amazing night of pure improv hilarity!  The night consisted of a pre-season, regular season, draft and playoffs!  In the end some team won that i don't remember the name of, but it was comprised of UBC and Richmond improv members.  However, some of the tears that were shed were not because of the uncontrolable stomach convulsions, otherwise known as laughing, no, they were for long time UBC improv member and close Pickle fried, Louis Pearlman.  That's right, this was his last pickle.  He is headed for New York to study Improv, so we hope that he breaks a leg... or two.  Thanks for the memories Louie!

September 13th 2002 "Don't Pickle your Nose"
What's so funny about Friday the 13th you ask?  Well, Tickle me Pickle's 9th show, that's what!  Just as everyone was getting settled back into school, work and colder weather, the kids of Tickle me Pickle were busy organising their next show, entitled "Don't Pickle your Nose".  Many special guests were featured, including a crazy german school teacher and of course the Richmond improv team!  Sadly, the UBC improv team could not make an appearnace, but the show went on without a hitch (except for that one i just mentioned...)  There were lots of laughs, maybe a few tears (from the laughing of course) and a general feeling of another pickle well done.  Good job guys, another success under our belts!

Ever have problems remembering which pickle was which?  Yeah, so do we.  In this section there is a detailed history of each show including a short review, articles printed about the shows, rosters, program excerpts etc.  If you see anything that's incorrect, or you would like to submit a review, please let us know!
Our 10th show extravaganza!!! This show saw the unveiling of our new Pickle shirts!  They feature a baby pickle design, or a gerkin if you will, and are printed in a delightful baby pink and baby blue.  The show itself was a big success.  It showcased the talents of our beloved fellow improvers, Mocking Horse, and our equally beloved Richmond Improv Team.  The two teams joined up for hours of crazy improv antics and made some very memorable scenes, such as Spencer's unfortunate unibrow.  This show's theme was that of a late night TV show, a la Saturday night Live, Leno, Letterman etc.  Hosting the night was Jon "numberman" Lee-Son, who did an extraordinary job.  A new game was introduced as well.  It was a modification of the "World's Worst" game, only to fit the theme, it was changed to "Top Ten's".  It was a hit, and is even seen replicated in Improv shows all over the lower mainland now.  Congrats on a great show everyone!

For a change of pace, instead of a new "history of pickle" Thomas wrote some pickle themed poetry for this show's program.  To view it, click here.
Our 11th show and our second show with the professional Improv team "Mocking Horse".  The show's theme was based around good parenting skills.  During the first half of the show with the Richmond Improv team, a "good parenting" tip was drawn from every scene and recorded on an oversized piece of paper.  The tips went as follows:
1.To make babies you need lots and lots of magic
2.Teachers shouldn't take students to museums without sufficient parent supervision
    3. Don't let your kids listen to Marilyn manson.  He is evil.
4.A healthy baby is better than an unhealthy one
    5.Babies can't fly planes
6.Daryl does not make a good mother
After a brief intermission, the Mocking Horse Imrpov team took the stage to rock the audience.  They did some long form improv based on the suggestion of "hamburger".  Many good laughs were had, especially during a dualing scene with Chris and Owen and several scenes involving Chris' digestive system played by Rachael and one of his arteries played by Owen.  In short it was a show well done.  Special thanks to Mocking Horse and Richmond for being so consistantly hilarious and the pickle crew for doing so much hard work.  Yay for another successful Pickle!

March 21st, 2003 "Because Your Mom Still Says it's Cool"
Wowzers! Who knew we could pull off so much improv in such a short time?  The March 21st show was our first attempt at going on "tour" to different Community Centers, specifically for this show, the Steveston Community Center. The performers for the evening were the Richmond Improv Team, who pulled off a hilarious two hour set of tradition and original games.  All in all it was an amazing show in every aspect, it was well organized, well improv-ed and well attended.  Pickle would like to everyone who made this show one of the best, especiall the Pickle Crew, the Richmond Improv Team, the Steveston Community Center and the Richmond Review.
