Never Ending Quest
The Cast of Characters

The Cast of Characters who inhabit the World of the Never Ending Quest is continually expanding and changing. And just as often as new characters are introduced, older characters are given a new twist or changed around all-together. Heroes become villains and villains become heroes. Monsters prove to be anything but, and stalwart defenders reveal their true colors.

In this ever shifting environment I found it challenging to come up with a simple system of classifying the characters that would be both accurate and easy to use. I finally decided to create three lists; a Chronological List, an Alphabetical List, and a Biographical List. Of the three the Biographical List is the most subjective due to the reasons stated above.

One small note. I do not include within this Guide any characters who belong to storylines other than Lord Fred's medieval fantasy melieu. Also, there are a great number of characters who are alternate versions of the main characters, primarily of Fred and Astra. They are not listed here either, only the one Fred and the one Astra. As I state throughout this site each character can change, either in some small way or in very dramatic ways, from one storyline to another. So if you want to know exactly what a particular character is like in a particular storyline you're going to have to read the story. But then, that's half the fun!

The Chronological List
the Characters are arranged by Date of Creation

The Alphabetical List
the Characters are arranged alphabetically by first name

The Biographical List
the Characters are arranged by affiliation

The Biographical List

This list is the Main character list and includes a basic description of the character as well as the episode in which the character first appeared and a few other details. Since no character is exactly the same in every storyline I have tried to give the most broad description or those characteristics which are most often used for a particular character. And since this is an all-inclusive list you must keep in mind that not all of the characters coexist with each other. For example, you'll notice that Fred has more than one mother and father and quite a few sisters in the list. These family members come from divergent storylines and won't ever appear all together in the same story (except in a cross-world storyline anyway). To know exactly which characters belong to each other in any specific story you will, as I've said before, need to read that story.

As stated above, the Biographical List arranges the characters by affiliation. These affiliations are of my own making but are based upon the stories of the NEQ.

There are five basic Categories by which I've designated the various affiliations. Within these Categories there are further sub-categories. The end result, I hope, is an easy and insightful layout in which to be introduced to the many and varied characters of the Never Ending Quest.

The Nobles
The majority of main characters are nobility of some type. And a great number of supporting characters are in some way connected to these aristocrats. So you will find the bulk of characters listed here.

The Sorcerors
A large number of magic users have appeared in NEQ storylines, both good and evil. You can find them here.

The Vagabonds
While the name implies that these characters wander around, I'm actually refering to characters that you will meet as YOU wander around. Be they pirates or desert nomads or wandering minstrels, these are the guys that don't quite fall into the two above categories.

The Creatures
If it isn't human, you'll find it here.

The Shemps
The name says it all. Or atleast it should if you know what a shemp is. A shemp is any kind of generic character that usually moves around in the background and doesn't get much attention. That guy who shovels horse crap in the livery stalls for instance. He's a shemp. But if he's got a name then at least now he's going to receive a little respect. Well, not really, but at least he's got a name.
