PHILIPPINES

1993 & 1999
 After saving some money in Japan in 1993, I went to the Philippines for my first real vacation. There are over 7,000 islands to chose from and my choice turned out to be the right one! My month on the island of Boracay was the best vacation I have ever had, even though a volcano to the north erupted while we were there!

In March 1999 my friend Alaina and I had the chance to escape Hong Kong for a one week vacation and we decided on the Philippines. This trip was less of an adventure and more of an indoor bathroom, poolside cocktail kind of journey.

CEBU 1999

Here is the view from our room onto the pool and ocean of Cebu. The trip was quite relaxing except for the Hare Krishna convention that we did not realize was booked into the same resort! They were very inconspicuous excepting one early morning drumming session and several uncomfortable swimming pool encounters!
Alaina flaunts her tropical glow.
As I mentioned, this vacation was about doing nothing.

This was my humble home for a month at Chez de Paris. Fantasy island indeed!
Perfection! The volcano made for great sunsets. I swear I took this photo myself.
Colorful as they are, tropical fish aren't always pets - this one made a tasty meal!
