Noble Families of Hungary as of 1755: In the years of 1754 and 1755, the Hungarian government took a census of all families claiming nobility in the entire Hungarian empire. The families were asked to supply documents to prove their legitimacy as nobles. Janos Illessy compiled a book, entitled "Census of the Hungarian nobility, 1754-1755," that lists every family able to prove themselves noble. This database is a partial list of those families. Both the book and database are organized alphabetically by county, and then by surname. Also included in the book is some background information on the census. This book is available on microfilm through the LDS Family History Library. It is item two on film #924458. Maintained by John Yagersky.
