NEWS 28 October 2005 to 9 March 2006 |
|||||||
9 March 2006. I've made a couple of changes to the timeline in the 19th century page. ************* 8 March 2006. After the infuriating geocities stats crash, I've restarted the books page stats. Its only 2 weeks' worth but a pattern will emerge before long. Eternal Mercenary is still the most popular. ************* 3 March 2006. The website had the highest hits last month ever. Great news, and we are continuing to attract new visitors from around the world, including South Africa and Germany, two countries we've not had contact from before. On the downside, the stats on the page visits had a fit in late February, wiping out 50% of my book page visits for some inexplicable reason. Geocities/Yahoo were unable to find out why so I'll have to start from scratch again! ************* 7 February 2006. I've got a few spare Casca books, notably numbers 3,5,6,10,14,16 and 20. I have others too. Anyone interested please email me for details. ************* 5 February 2006. I've done a bit of web scouring for film or TV tie-ins with the Casca Longinus legend, and found two references that loosely connect them with Casca. The first is the short-lived 1997 series "Roar" in which a Roman character called 'Longinus' appears, cursed to live forever (stolen from Barry Sadler perhaps?). The second is the film "The Seventh Sign" made in 1988 which is about Jesus returning and in one scene confronting the Roman who speared him on the cross. ************** 16 January 2006. The new year promises much and I'm hopeful that things will develop the way they are planned. Keep your eyes peeled on this website for further news about forthcoming new material in 2006. ************** 12 December 2005. The ebay auction for 22 books went for $255.00 (£145.27) which is $11.59 (£6.60) per book. Things are certainly hotting it up for Casca books in the run-in to Christmas. ************** 11 December 2005. An ebay auction finished last night for 20 Casca books. The winning bid was $217.50 (£123.90) which shows there's a lot of interest out there. There's another for 22 books due up in a few hours and I'll post how much that lot sold for. ************** 30 November 2005: Books In Motion have sent new web links for me to put on the site. I've placed them in both the booklist and the audio book pages. They have just completed a revamp of their website. ************** 25 November 2005. Nothing received regarding the Outcast despite it having been promised. It looks like its a no-go and the email address of the sender is no longer working. Disappointing but I think that closes the chapter on Casca The Outcast. ************** 10 November 2005. I've looked at recent bids on ebay from people wanting to buy Casca books by nationality, and the breakdown is as follows: USA 76.7%, UK 12.9%, Canada 6.9%, Australia 1.7% and Ireland and Sweden at 0.9% each. Anyone out there from other countries? Love to hear from you. ************** 7 November 2005. I had an email from a fan from the States who asked about a fans' forum. I remembered this website used to have one until about 2003, and I found it and changed some coding on it and now its back. I've put it on the index page. ************** 2 November 2005. An interesting sale on ebay ended this morning; 22 Casca books by Barry Sadler went for $182.50 (£103.00) which works out at $8.30 (£4.70) each. Postage is additonal! ************** 1 November 2005. Update of the book stats has been done. The Nov 2004-Oct 2005 annual figure shows Defiant has made the biggest increase (+0.6%) while Panzer Soldier the biggest fall (-0.9%). ************** 29 October 2005. All the character pages have now been updated. I'm also pleased to see that this month has been the record breaker for visits to this website. The number of visits has broken all previous months by a huge margin. It seems people are still very much interested in Casca, and there may well be good reason to celebrate in 2006 as well with the new series of stories. Fingers crossed. ************** 28 October 2005. Only character page T remains to be done now. The rest have been completed. |
