PART TWELVE - 1835 TO 1899
In the pages of Casca The African Mercenary reference is made to him being part of the Boer Trek of the 1830s.  In The Warrior much reference is made to Casca being in the Confederate army in the US Civil War.
1835 - 1843
THEORETICAL TIMELINE

After travelling down the coast of Africa, Casca finds himself in South Africa and joins the Boers in their Great Trek away from the British.  After a hard battle against the Zulus Casca settles down to a life with Elizabeth Weekins, a Boer widow, but tragedy is not far off when British soldiers kill Elizabeth and Casca kills the British.  Hunted for the murders, he flees South Africa.

1866 - 1868
CASCA THE WARRIOR
Working for a while on the railroads of America, Casca eventually sails from San Francisco out into the Pacific and ends up on a South Sea Island where he joins with the main village in fighting the expansionist designs of the local area warlord.  After defeating him Casca sails off in a small boat alone in the vast ocean.
1868 - 1876
THEORETICAL TIMELINE

Tossed onto the Californian coast after a storm Casca makes a living as a bouncer in the saloons of San Francisco for a while until a fatal fight over a dancing girl causes him to head east.  He signs up as an army soldier at a fort where many of the recruits are German, so he blends in with them.  Their commander is George Armstrong Custer and their campaigns against the women and children of the Indian villages sickens Casca, and he vows to avenge their deaths somehow.  The chance comes in 1876 when they ride to the Little Bighorn, and his deliberate bad advice walks them into a trap.  During the battle Custer accuses Casca of being responsible and Casca tells him why.  Custer shoots Casca and as Casca lies there wounded, he sees Custer killed. Casca's knowledge of Indian customs and language spares him from scalping and he throws off his uniform and is allowed to walk away.
Above: Custer leads his column (including Casca) to final disaster at the Little Big Horn.
1876 - 1899
THEORETICAL TIMELINE

Living in obscurity for a while, Casca soon has need of money so he joins up once more to fight for the States against Spain in Cuba.  After the victory by the US Casca decides to go elsewhere, and embarks on a ship that is sailing for India via Hong Kong.
