PART ONE - TO 453AD | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Casca's life has stretched through time, thanks to the curse of immortality. Keeping track of his passage through the ages is an exacting task - as the Brotherhood of the Lamb have found - and we have only an incomplete history of Barry Sadler's hero. On this page and the following Timeline pages, the missing gaps have been filled in with theoretical places and dates. Of course, these may change when new stories are released but for now, this is as accurate a timeline as is known. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
AD33-AD163 CASCA - THE ETERNAL MERCENARY Casca is serving in Jerusalem with the Tenth Legion when he is cursed by Jesus (3 April). He then spends the next 30 or so years in a copper mine before becoming a gladiator in Rome, then a galley slave on a Roman ship. After it is wrecked he finds his way to Pela and lives with a woman called Neda for a while. Eventually signs up with the legions under Avidius Cassius for the campaign against the Persians and is involved in the Battle of Ctesiphon (AD163). |

AD163-252 CASCA - THE BARBARIAN After deserting the legion Casca spends a little time in the Empire before crossing the Rhine and joining up with Glam, a Germanic warrior. Together they arrive in Helsfjord and eventually Casca takes over as Lord, marrying the lovely Lida. He stays until her death through illness. |

AD252-268 CASCA - GOD OF DEATH Casca travels with two ships crewed by Vikings, and end up in the land of a people called the Teotec. After surviving a sacrifice Casca is proclaimed a god - The Quetza - and leads them to victory over the invading Olmecs. |

AD268-328 CASCA - THE WARLORD After falling overboard on his return from the Teotec, Casca ends up in Britannia. He then sails to Rome in the ship of a new friend, then to Byzantium. He travels east accompanied by a young man called Jugotai for part of the way, then alone onto Khitai - the lands of Chin. He serves under the Emperor Tzin until the Empress Li Tsao's jealousy causes her to bury him alive. Seven years later he returns and eventually begins the return journey west. |

AD328-390 CASCA - THE PERSIAN Casca reaches the lands of the Sassanid king Shapur II and is made a commander of the army. Winning battles against the Huns in Persia and Kushan (where he once more meets Jugotai) does not save him from being branded a heretic and is burned at the stake. Recovering thanks to his condition he makes his way west towards the Roman Empire. |

AD390-453 CASCA - THE DAMNED On his return to the Empire he falls foul of the new Christian religion and once more fights in the arena. Freed again he witnesses Rome's fall to the Visigoths and flees to a now deserted Helsfjord. When Attila and his horde threaten, however, Casca returns and fights one last time for the legions at the Battle of the Catalunian Plains (451) that sees Attila finally checked. |
