My Brother |

I Never...
I never thought you'd leave so soon Your life here had just begun There are so many things we had yet to share So many things we had not done
I never got the chance to say That I was so proud of you You worked so hard to please us all Your heart was pure and true
I never thought this was the only way For you to be so free You fought within yourself so long This is the only end that I can see
I never thought you'd be the one To show me how to live To take each day and realize How much love I have yet to give
Just one more thing I never thought Is that I would have to say goodbye But I'll hold onto our memories And think of you each day that goes by
I will always love you, my brother!

Two Paths
My youth was spent right next to you When I turned left, then you did too When I climbed high, you were right there The best of times is what we shared
And sometimes when we disagreed You'd turn around and follow me 'Cause you and I were close indeed As close as you and I could be
One fateful day upon the road A fork appeared, which way to go? You wanted left, I wanted right We couldn't see the other's side
I thought I knew and you did, too The road to take for me and you We disagreed, but didn't fight So you turned left and I turned right
Each step we took, the distance grew Until there was no 'me and you' Now many years have come and gone How is it that we went so wrong?
I see the headstone on your grave Is there a 'me and you' to save? Of course there is...I'm here - you're there I'm sure you know I'll always care
And this one thought, it gives me cheer The road we're on is just a sphere We've passed halfway, it's meant to be We're coming back to 'you and me'

We all take different
paths in life,
but no matter where we go,
we take a little of each
other everywhere ...

You Were My Little Brother |
You were my little brother
Right from the very start
I helped take care of you
And loved you with my heart |
You were my little brother
And you were almost 2
We played and played for hours
It was only me and you |
You were my little brother
I remember when you were 4
Sandbox, swings and make believe
I could ask for nothing more |
You were my little brother
And you were almost 6
Playing cars or playing dolls
Or sword fighting with sticks |
You were my little brother
And you were just 13
It was time for me to leave your side
And start living my own dream |

The years have passed, we moved away
And had families of our own
But I look back and realize
How much that we have grown |
You were my little brother
It was just us two
You shaped my life when it counted most
And for that I'll always love you
