Tony's Park

On Palm Sunday, April 4, 2004, we set out for Tony's Park
to scatter his ashes; however, when we got there we didn't know how we were going to do it. Fortunately, there was a man getting ready to take his kayak out. We asked him if he could take Tony out with him to put in his final resting place. He said he would be honored to do this. This man was an Earth Angel, in all of the pictures we took, we never saw his face. We never got his name and we don't know where he came from or where he went.

Tony's ashes were held in a floating urn. It looked like a large envelope wrapped with parchment paper and it's made especially for burial in water. Tony was placed into the water and within minutes, the container opened and his ashes flowed out. The empty container floated back to shore.

We were all saying our goodbye's to Tony as we watched a dolphin approach and begin to leap in circles around the spot where Tony's ashes are.

Doesn't matter when we visit the Park,
seems like that one dolphin is always there,
even on Tony's Birthday.

The manatee are frequent visitors at Tony's Park.

A Special Birthday

Please God, make them remember that today is a special birthday.

Make them understand that the memories don't go away.
Bless them with ears to hear and hearts that care.
Enable them to listen while I share.
Shelter them that they may never know my pain.
Help them to help me know that my child's life was not in vain.

Help them to remember, Lord,

That I wish my child was here so we could still celebrate.
To understand that I still feel the nearness of my child.
To see beyond my smile and the words "I'm OK"

Please God, let just one remember that
