Forbidden Worlds #39 Dec. 1955:
The Davy Crockett Mystery. Following the battle at the Alamo, Col. Crockett almost dead, drinks from a fountain of youth and lives on to fight in every major American war, right up to WW2. Where he dies heroically, decomposing into a clump of smoldering bones. According to Edwin Murray in Bob Jennings' "The Comic World" #17 May 1978 was "a sentimental favorite of mine" written by ACG editor Richard E. Hughes with cover art by the big O. himself, Ogden Whitney.

Snafu Magazine 1955:
This early Mad (copycat magazine) has a wonderful send-up of the "Ballad of Davy Crockett" by Stan Lee and Joe Maneely!! From the house of ideas Marvel Comics!! A Crockett must!

Ben Bowie and his Mountain Men:
Dell's buckskin title since 1952 showed some Disney Crockett influences in their July, Oct., 1956 issues #7&8, with Mississippi keelboats and fighting Mexicans.

Marmaduke Mouse #58 Feb. 1956:
Proudly displays on it's cover Marmaduke wearing a coonskin cap, Davy Crockett t-shirt, and carrying a flintlock riffle over his shoulder. Sorry, no mention of ol' Davy inside.

Marge’s Little Lulu #91 Jan. 1956:
Dell’s “Marge’s Little Lulu” #91 Jan. 1956 has a delightful Crockett theme cover and a five page story that has Lulu and her girl friends pitted against Tubby and his boys in a snow ball fight called “The Alamo”.

Henry Comics #45 Jan-Mar 1956:
Henry Comics cover #45 Jan-Mar 1956 (on sale Nov. 1955). Henry with "coonskin" cat on his head. Very funny!

The Dodo and the Frog #87, Nov.-Dec. 1955:
“The Dodo and the Frog” #87 Nov.-Dec. 1955 from DC Comics. Cover story is a wonderful take-off on Disney’s Davy Crockett entitled "Dodo Crockett Vs. Chief Fenimore!".
