CHAPTER 8

''Ok, we'll talk at home,'' Jax told his son before he stood up to talk to the policeman. ''Is it okay to take my son home?''

''Sure, Mr. Jacks. If you'll just sign this form, then you can be on your way out,'' the policeman said and Jax did as asked, before he reached for his son's hand. ''Come on, I think you need to explain yourself young man,'' Jax said to his son in a firm tone.

As soon as Jerry was seated, Jax turned to him and sighed. ''What was it about your mother?'' He asked his son in an abrupt tone.

''Ok, you have to hear me out until I am done talking, do you promise?'' Jerry asked nervously. He should've listened to his mother and kept his mouth shut about it. ''I promise you that it's the truth, but no one can know about it, or I'll be kidnapped again.''

Jax took a more comfortable position and turned to his upper body to face his son. ''I'm listening,'' he said quietly.

''What I said to the police was bogus,'' the boy started, ''I was kidnapped at the movies by a guy who drugged me. He took me to house, and then the guy said that Helena wanted me to meet someone. It was mum,'' the boy finished, looking anxiously at his father.

''Let me get this straight,'' Jax started, before he scratched his head. ''You were kidnapped openly by Helena, she brought you to this house, in broad daylight, got you to meet your dead mother, and then brought you back? Is that it?''

''She wanted to scare mum off,'' Jerry nodded, ''because she tried to escape or thought about escaping. I'm not sure I understood it all, but it's the truth dad!'' Jerry added desperately.

''I think we are going to be stopping at the hospital on our way home,'' Jax told his son sternly.

''Dad, I'm fine, I just need you to believe me!''

'No, you are not fine. You are far from being fine! Do you realize how crazy this all sounds? Why would Helena, if she is holding your mother hostage, take you to her, let you meet her and talk to her, before letting you go? That doesn't make any sense. Maybe you were hit on the head and you had a dream, and I want to make sure that you are not hallucinating. You just had a traumatic experience, and you need to be checked out,''

''I'M NOT CRAZY! DAD, IT'S ALL TRUE!'' Jerry said desperately. ''Listen to me! Helena said that if I talked, mum would be killed, and that I would take her place in the cell. Mum said that I had to do what she said or she would be dead before you had time to tie your shoes. But I decided to take the chance, I can't leave her there! What are you doing?'' He asked as he saw his father take his phone out.

''I'm calling General Hospital and having you examined, you are delirious! And if everything is physically fine, I'm making an appointment with Gail Baldwin, first thing in the morning''

''Fine, think that I'm crazy!'' Jerry said, insulted that his father, his own father, didn't believe him. How would he be able to get his mother out of Helena's clutches now? If Jax didn't trust him enough to believe him, and his father knew he wasn't a lying child, who would?

***************

''I knew that my mother was up to something,'' Stefan confessed to his nephew, before he got up to pace the dining room at Wyndermere. ''I just can not believe Jasper believes her story about picking Jeremiah up by the side of the road''

''I don't think he believes it, but if she thinks he does, maybe she'll let her guard down,'' Nikolas proposed, although he didn't really believed it. Helena had never let her guard down, for anything, and it wouldn't happen so soon after whatever deed she needed Jerry for.

''If you really believe that, then you really are a fool in love,'' Stefan said with a small smile as he thought of Emily.

Nikolas had found Emily on a park bench, her eyes all red and her tears frozen on her cheeks one April night back in the year 2000. He had sat next to her and lent her his shoulder, and had wrapped his arms around her protectively.

*-*Flashback, April 2000*-*

''Hey there, what's wrong?'' Nikolas asked before he sat next to his crying friend, and he wrapped his arm around her. ''You're freezing,''

''I wish I could freeze forever!'' Emily blurted out, before tears started to fall again, and she turned to Nikolas. So many times before had he come through for her, being the friend that she needed desperately.

''What did he do?'' Nikolas sighed, knowing she would know who he was talking about. One day he would show that little twit how to treat a woman he claimed to love.

When Juan finally understood he would be staying in Port Charles for real, after Emily helped him convince his father and Marcus Taggert to let him stay, he had decided that he didn't need to be with Emily 24 hours a day, and he didn't need her to be his girlfriend anymore. He had started seeing other girls behind her back, not being there for her when she needed him to be. This wasn't the first time that Nikolas found her in tears.

''It's over,'' Emily admitted as she wiped her tears with the tissue he gave her. ''He cheated on me with Jessica, the captain of the cheerleading team.''

''He what?'' asked Nikolas, unable to believe what he was hearing. As time had passed by, he had started to realize what a beautiful young woman Emily was becoming, and it was killing him. Not that he would ever admit it, not even to himself. Seeing that she was in love with a hoodlum, to quote Edward Quartermaine, was very difficult for Nikolas. The worst part was that he couldn't do anything about it.

''At school, no less!'' Emily exclaimed, before she turned to her friend. ''They were in the gym's storage room, and Mr. Billigaty asked Kasandra and I to go check something and we found them. I wanted to kill him!''

''Oh Em, I'm so sorry,'' Nikolas told her honestly, before he pulled her close, enveloping her in a warm embrace

*-*End Flashback*-*

Since that day, Nikolas had slowly walked into Emily's life, until he had gathered the courage to ask her out on a date. They had married in the summer of 2001, and Natasha had blessed their union by her presence soon after that. Stefan became rather fond of the young woman, and he knew that she would be a perfect princess by Nikolas' side. Time proved him right, and it still did.

''I may be in love, but I'm no fool,'' Nikolas answered with a smile.

''You may be a fool,'' Stefan tried to joke, ''But you couldn't have found a better wife and mother for your children''

Nikolas looked at his uncle with a proud smile on his face. This was the first time Stefan told his nephew how much he approved of his choice in his life partner and that meant the world to the young man.

***************

''Jerry, do you know where we are?'' asked a nervous Toby a couple of days later, when his friend stopped in front of the building they weren't allowed to go in.

''Of course I know where we are, I'm not stupid! Come on, we'll go in through the back door,'' Jerry answered in an annoyed voice

''No way, I'm not going in there! My mom said that the reason Grandma Bobbie gave her up for adoption when she was a baby is because Luke threatened to eat her!''

''How old are you? Don't tell me you believe those things! My mom said that he was perfectly sane!''

''No, your mom said that he was the best man to fight Helena, she never said anything about him being sane!''

Jerry had to that admit his friend was right. ''You got me there,'' the young boy confessed with a smile. ''Come on, it's risk free, and you know I need his help,''

''We can just go to my dad, you know,'' Toby remarked. Everything was a good reason not to go into Luke's club. ''Our parents will kill us if they knew we even thought about entering,''

''Nah, your father owned this place once, didn't he? We will just tell them that it's an educational research project about what our parents did for work before we were born,''

''You want us to lie?''

''Hey, when I tell the truth my dad doesn't believe me anyway, so what's the difference?'' Jerry asked bitterly.

Things were still tense between Jeremiah and his father. The kid had retracted what he said, telling his father that maybe Jax was right, it had all been a dream. If Jax told anyone about this, or took the boy to see Gail Baldwin about it, Alexis' life would be over. Jerry apologized, and then turned to his best friend for comfort. Toby had believed him without any question. The young Corinthos boy had even proposed that they save Alexis on their own, but realized how crazy it sounded. It was in the middle of winter, they didn't have their bikes, how would they get to the manor where Alexis and V were held?

''Come on, let's go,'' Jerry said and took a deep breath, before he opened the door to Luke's office.

''If he eats us, I'll kill you,'' Toby took a deep breath before following his best friend inside.

''CLAUDE, WHO LET TWO KIDS IN HERE?'' Luke bellowed before he even looked up at the two boys in his office. ''Oh, if it isn't my gold diggin' niece's son and his sidekick, Skippy Jr. What are you both doing here?''

''It was my idea. I need help and you are the only one who can help me,'' Jerry said courageously, before walking a step in forward. ''Toby is just here for,'' Jerry said, stopping for a minute to look at his friend.

''Back up!'' Toby answered and he walked next to his best friend protectively.

''Ok, I don't know who put you up to this, but I ain't playing. So I don't mean to be rude, but this is a club, as in 21 years old and up, so walk out the same way you walked in,'' Luke answered somewhat coldly. He didn't have time to play with his niece's son, nor with the dingo dog's nephew.

''The person who put me up to this is my mother, Natasha!'' Jerry said as his little hands slammed on Luke's desk to capture his attention.
