Chapter 19

Lucky was watching television, and laughing at the stupidity of the show. Elizabeth wasn't there yet and he was missing her. Normally she left at night around 9, and got back around 8 the next morning, but now, it was almost 1 and still wasn't there. He had called her house and Audrey said she was gone, but that she had some errands to run before going to the hospital.

The bruises and cuts on his face were almost gone, and his legs and hips were healing wonderfully. He wasn't out of the woods yet, he would have to learn to walk again and, for a while, he would be in a wheelchair just like his brother. Nikolas was teasing him about it, saying Lucky couldn't stand the thought of his brother having something he couldn't, which was everyone hovering over him and fussing about his chair. Lucky said they would settle this once and for all with a race, as soon as the doctor would let him sit down!

The two brothers were closer than ever, Nikolas was there nearly everyday, playing cards, watching TV, just hanging. Elizabeth was happy to see that, finally, Lucky was letting a member of his family near his heart again. He still wasn't completely trusting his parents, but at least he was trusting Nikolas.

For the zillionth time, Lucky looked at his watch. Where was she? And where was everyone? Normally his room was packed! Even his aunt Bobbie didn't stop by when she started her shift. Finally, his door opened and Liz poked her head in.

"-Hey stranger, you busy?

-Not really, I've been waiting for you, where were you?

-I had to pick someone up. Want some company?

-Sure, who's with you?

-Ok, I'll be right back"

Elizabeth closed the door, and left him alone again, but not for long, because Nikolas and Luke came in, with a bag. Lucky asked them what was going on, and neither of them answered. They took a white shirt out of the bag, and put it on him. He was trying to know what was going on, but Nikolas and Luke talked among themselves, like Lucky wasn't there. Nikolas buttoned it up, and Luke put a tie around his son's neck. Nikolas put his jacket on and looked for the final effect.

"-Not bad, said Luke

-I agree, now we just need to comb his hair

-NOBODY TOUCHES MY HAIR UNTIL YOU TELL ME WHAT'S GOING ON!

-My, my, my, aren't we touchy? Said Nikolas with a smile

-I'll go tell Elizabeth we are ready.

-Wait, we have to change first"

Nikolas took his shirt off and put a white one, buttoned it up, put a tie and a jacket too, while Luke was doing the same thing. They combed their hair and Luke went out, while Nikolas put his chair next to Lucky's bed. The door opened again, letting Bobbie, Jerry, Lucas, Laura, Lesley Lu, Audrey, Sarah (who looked mad to be there), Jason, Carly, Amy and Luke, who came back with a radio.

Lucky was really perplexed, wondering what the hell was going on. Luke pushed the "play" button and music started to fill the room. Lucky's mouth dropped when he recognized the song. It was "here comes the bride". What was that all about? The door opened again and Lucky recognized the man, it was... THE PRIEST? He looked at his sister and Lucas and realized they were wearing the outfits chosen for the wedding! Emily came in the room with her bride's maid dress! Lucky's heart was about to bail out on him, anticipating the sight of Elizabeth and he was right. Liz was right behind Emily, in the most beautiful wedding dress he had ever seen.

"-Elizabeth, I am not in the shape to get married!

-You don't have a choice! She answered with a smile. Remember what you said?

You wanted to marry me before something else happened? Well, something did and I am not putting it off any longer! That way, if something happens to you again, I will have access to the security checks for widower!

-YOU ARE TOO MUCH! He answered, laughing. Go on father, you heard the lady!"

The priest started the ceremony, while Elizabeth took Lucky's hand. She was proud of herself. From the look on his face, she was sure he had no idea whatsoever that she planned this. She couldn't have done it without Nikolas and Luke's help. The two men put their difference aside to help her and she was grateful to both of them.

"-Now, Elizabeth wrote her own vows. Elizabeth?

-Lucky, the first time I saw you I knew you would be the one I was going to marry. I hoped so anyway. {Everybody laughed}. I did everything I could to get you to notice me but you only saw me as a good friend. Finally, you did notice me. You helped me through the worst time of my life and you quickly became the most important person to me. Together, we've cried, laughed and hurt. We wiped each other's tears, shared our hopes and dreams, fears and regrets. I want that to go on forever! You are the other half of me, the better half, I don't know how to live without you, and I don't want to learn. I wished for the longest time to have you love me.....now that you do, I know that dreams do come true. Today, I'm reaffirming my promise to you. I promise to love you, to be with you forever, and the day after that if possible."

Lucky was wiping the tears from his eyes, and so was everybody else. The priest then turned to Lucky.

"-You wanted to sing your vows to Elizabeth. Now's your chance.

-I can't! I don't have my guitar!

-I thought about that one, said Nikolas, when Elizabeth talked to me about wanting to do this."

Nikolas went out of the room, and came back with Lucky's old guitar, the one Elizabeth gave to him. He put it on Lucky's lap, and went back to his place. Lucky cleared his throat and locked eyes with Elizabeth.

"One look in your eyes

So I'm proud to take the vows"

"-Lucas, do you have the ring? Asked the priest

-Yes father, here they are! The young boy said, taking the rings out of his pocket

-Lucky, take this ring, put it on Elizabeth's finger and --

-With this ring, I thee wed

-WOW! Said the priest. Now, Elizabeth, --

-With this ring, I thee wed

-I can take a hint! Said the priest, laughing. By the power invested in my by God and the laws of this state I know pronounce you husband and wife. Mr. Spencer, you may kiss the bride"

Luke took Elizabeth in his arms and kissed her on both cheek

"-DAD! Said Lucky

-Hey he said Mr. Spencer, he didn't specify which one!"

Everybody laughed and Elizabeth leaned down to kissed Lucky. Her husband. As soon as her lips touched his;

"-Where's the cake? Asked Lulu, making everybody crack up"
