Chapter 20

Elizabeth didn't want to leave Lucky that night. After all, it was their wedding night. But still she did, when Bobbie asked her to do so, around 9. She kissed Lucky, passionately, promising herself that she would tell him about the baby, tomorrow. Tonight, it was about them, Mr. and Mrs. Spencer.

The next day, when she came into the room, Lucky was mad. Not at her, but at the world. When she asked him why, he didn't answer, staring straight in front of him. Elizabeth was nervous. What was his mood about? Then she understood, when she saw the doctor coming back in the room. Lucky asked him flat out if his vasectomy would affect his "performance" and Liz nearly laughed out loud. It wasn't funny, but all Lucky could think about was being able to make love to her? When the doctor told him that it wouldn't affect him in any way, Lucky still wasn't happy. They were alone again, and Lucky still wasn't talking to her.

"-Lucky, I am so sorry, she said, when the silence was killing her

-Well, it's not your fault Elizabeth. I'm just mad at the world right now. Besides from losing you, this may very well be the worst thing to happen to me.

-Well, it's not that bad. I mean, you are healthy, alive, that's what's important right?

-Yeah, but I mean, what about having a family Elizabeth? You want children, I want children, and now, all that's never going to happen. You know you could get a annulment for that? I wouldn't be mad if you did. Crushed, but not mad

-Lucky, I love you, I wouldn't get an annulment for any reason.

-God, what are we going to do? I really wanted children with you. A family of

our own.

-Well, I know you wanted children, but would a child be enough?

-I don't understand

-I'm pregnant Lucky. I was about to tell you when I saw the mood you were in.

-You're pregnant?

-Yes!

-With my child?

-LUCKY! THAT'S INSULTING!

-I'm sorry baby, I didn't mean it like that!"

Elizabeth sat on the bed and put her head on his chest. He didn't say anything. Was he happy? Mad? Talk to me Lucky, she thought. Your silence is killing me! At that time, she felt his hand, slowly stroking her hair. She looked at him and he was smiling. The twinkle she loved so much was in his eyes. He was so handsome, as he leaned down to kiss her. She put her arm around his chest, and laid there with him, halfway falling out of the bed.

"-We really need a bigger bed, she said, laughing

-Not just a bigger bed. We need a cradle, a crib, a high chair, a car seat, a play park, a jumper, a --

-Whoa slow down cowboy! To buy these things we need money!

-I know, but isn't it great? We're having a baby!"

Lucky kissed her, slowly, waking every sense in her body. What was happening to her! Never, in all the time she was with Lucky, was she this turned on by a kiss. Probably her hormones raging!

Lucky felt her passion is her kisses, and backed away. This was not the place to get physical, especially since half of his body was still in a cast! Elizabeth smiled at him, shyly and he kissed her forehead.

Nikolas got in the room a little before lunch and saw the newlyweds, in a tight embrace, sleeping.

Lucky was the first to wake up, when the nurse came in with his lunch. Elizabeth was still sleeping, her head on his chest.

"-I see the little Mrs was tired, the nurse whispered

-Yeah, I guess she was. The last couple of weeks has been hard on her, Lucky whispered back

-Well, when you're hungry, just eat. Your brother stopped by, he said to tell you he didn't want to wake you guys up, he'll be back later in the afternoon

-Great, thanks Doris

-You are very welcome Lucky"

Elizabeth woke up when she heard the door closed, and she smiled at Lucky. She got up and let him eat, going down to the cafeteria to get something too. She still couldn't believe she told him about the baby. And that he was happy about it. They were really having a baby, a family. Without even realizing it, she put her hand on her belly. What would it be, a boy, or a girl? What did she want? What did Lucky preferred? How would they provide for it?

All these thoughts were driving her crazy. They still had school, their last year of high school, work to pay for the apartment, they would never be able to pay all the bills! And now, with Lucky out of work, it would be even tighter. She knew Audrey and Laura were there to help them, but what would it look like if, in the beginning, they weren't even able to manage?

Lucky was patiently waiting for Elizabeth to return, to start eating. When the door opened he smiled. He was starving. But it was Laura, smiling at him.

"-How are my favorite groom?

-I'm good mom, you?

-I'm good. Where's Elizabeth?

-She went and got something to eat. Mom, you'll never guess what she told me this morning!

-What? From your smile, it should be big

-Well, the doctor told me this morning they proceeded to a vasectomy, and that I wouldn't be able to have children. I was upset mom, really upset, but Elizabeth told me the most wonderful thing in the world. She's pregnant! Isn't it wonderful?

-It is pretty amazing. But, as far as wonderful, Lucky, I don't think you've completely thought about this did you?

-What do you mean?

-Well, Elizabeth did, and she is scared Lucky. She's concerned about how you'll be able to provide for the baby. I mean, you are still both in school, and with this accident you'll be out of work for a while, she is already working all she can, think about this thoroughly Lucky. I don't mean to burst your bubble, but you and Elizabeth will need to figure out how you'll be able to survive.

-Why didn't she tell me she felt like this?

-She thinks you already have enough on your shoulders, she didn't want to be a burden, but I felt she didn't deserve to go through this alone. This is your baby too.

Elizabeth came back shortly after that and felt something changed in Lucky's attitude. He was always a million miles away. Lucky knew what to do, but he needed to run it by Elizabeth without his mother there. After what it seemed like forever, Laura left, and Lucky asked Elizabeth to sit on his bed, besides him.

"-My mother told me your concerns. I want you to know that, no matter what is going on in my life, our life, I want you to come to me when something is bothering you OK?

-OK

-Now that it's out of the way, I think I've figured out a way to make ends meat while I'm still in the hospital. Stefan came to see me the other day, to know how I was doing, and he told me that the computer system was always down, and he didn't have time to fix it. Next time I'll see him, I'll offer him to fix it for him.

-Are you sure he's gonna say yes?

-No I'm not, but he doesn't hurt to ask. Jason told me he'd bring the laptop here, so that I can continue my work, so he'll still be paying me. I'm also doing computer work for my dad, so money will come in this way too. You'll see Elizabeth, everything will be all right, no need to worry.

-I still do, that's my job, I'm the woman"

Lucky laughed at her comment, and said that yes indeed she was a woman, a beautiful one. Elizabeth blushed at his comment and he kissed her, the same way she did that same morning. Lucky was cursing himself to be in a hospital bed. He wanted her so much he was hurting. Elizabeth broke the kiss, out of breath, and smiled at her husband. Soon he would be home. Soon he would make love to her again, she just had to be patient, no matter how much she wanted to lock the door with a furniture right now!
