CHAPTER 19

Elizabeth seemed concentrated on her work, but she wasn't. She was thinking. It was impossible. It couldn't be possible. Every time she thought about it for the last two days, she was sure it was impossible. She didn't want it to be possible.

Last night, Lucky wanted to make love to her but she refused. She told him it was her time of the month. At least it was supposed to be. She was late. Nearly one week late. She didn't want to tell Lucky. Liz would wait another week and if it wasn't there, she would see a doctor and THEN she would talk to Lucky about it. But every night she prayed that it wouldn't go to that.

Lucky was looking at Liz from the corner of his eyes. She had been staring at the same page for over half an hour. Something was bothering her, and she didn't want him to know what. They were leaving the next day for Port Charles, and he had hoped she would've talked to him by then. It was clear she wouldn't. But Lucky didn't want to push. When she would be ready, she would talk.

"-I have enough! She said suddenly! Are you almost done?

-Yeah, two more pages and then that's iit why? He said with a smile

-I want to go home! Let's leave tonighht. We'll surprise your parents.

-You're serious? He asked

-Yeah. I don't have to finish it tonigght. I want to go home early. What do you say?

-It could be fun. I can finish this onn the plane. Let's go pack

-Already done!"

Lucky looked at her with a smile. She knew he would say yes. She had packed their stuff this afternoon, she just waited for the right time to talk about it.

"-Ok, let's just tell Mr. Wagner, so he knows the apartment will be empty"

They arrived at Port Charles just before diner. Laura was setting the table when she heard the doorbell. Lesley Lu ran to open the door and Laura heard her say ;

"-LUCKY!"

Laura put the plates on the table and ran to the door. Her son and daughter-in-law were standing there, with huge smiles on their faces. Laura hugged them both and told them to come inside. They took their boots off, and Lucky took Elizabeth's coat off. Laura thought it was so cute. Lucky was really full of intentions where his young wife was concerned.

Lucky told his mother that it was Elizabeth's idea to come sooner and Laura smiled before saying to Liz;

"-I knew there was a reason why I liked you!"

Elizabeth laughed at Laura's comment. She too liked her mother-in-law very much. Lucky looked around and asked his mother where is father was.

"-He went for an errand with Nikolas. She answered

-Are they becoming good buddies now? LLucky asked, he couldn't help but feel a little jealous.

-Yes, they are Ok, with each other now.. Well, Nikolas have a hard time coping with the fact that Stefan is his father. You knew we told him didn't you?

-No I didn't. Must've been hard for hiim."

Laura explained to Lucky how Nikolas felt betrayed by Stefan and that he was spending more time than ever here. Not that she complained. Lesley Lu was holding Elizabeth's hand ever since she walked in. The youngest Spencer was simply in love with her sister-in-law, just like everyone else.

Diner that night was calm but full of laughter. Lucky was telling them about a guy in his class. Then he talked about the Sociology class, and he saw Elizabeth look at her plate. She couldn't help but remember doubting him, and she wanted to die. Lucky saw her expression, and gently squeezed her knee under the table, but his gesture was caught by his mother.

"-They are talking, she thought, silently, but they understand each other"

Laura thought her heart would flip, just by the look Lucky gave Elizabeth. Even Luke never looked at her with so much love in his eyes. They looked like they lost each other for a moment and now that they were back together, their love was stronger.

"-That's ridiculous, Laura said to herself. Lucky would never lose Elizabeth, she loves him too much"

Lesley Lu spent the evening playing with Elizabeth in her room. For the first time since she noticed she was late, Liz looked at the problem with a new view. She was ready to face reality. Looking at Lesley Lu, she put her hand on her belly and sigh. Was there somebody inside? How did this happen? Well she knew how it happened, but why? And when? The only time she could see for her to be late was when they were right here in Port Charles. Their first time. Why didn't she think of protection? Lucky would kill her.

"-Lizzie are you Okay? Asked Lulu

-Of course sweetheart, I was just thinkking

-About what?

-Stuff.

-Are you and Lucky gonna have a baby? -WHAT?

-I mean someday? I would love to be ann aunt. Coral, in my class, is an aunt, and she is younger than me!

-You sure talk a whole lot now don't yoou? Liz said with a laugh"

Lesley Lu looked at Liz and smiled. Elizabeth was just in love with her 6 year old sister- in-law. Again, her hand went to touch her belly. Would she look like Lulu? Or Lucky? What if it was a boy? Would he be the strong, silent type like his dad? Or outgoing like his mom?

"-Oh stop that, she said to herself. You'll see, tomorrow you'll have your period"

But it was too late. The thought was in her brain and she couldn't get it off. She didn't know what to think about it. Sure, it would be a bumpy ride if she was pregnant, and Lucky would probably flip out on her, but she couldn't help but feel happy. A part of her wanted to be pregnant, and the other part, the brain, the responsible one, was telling her that it would be a crazy idea. They were both going to school. They were 18 for God's sake! What would they do with a baby in their lives. It would ruin things for sure.

"-Well, Lulu, I think it's time I went downstairs to spend time with your mom

-And Lucky

-And Lucky, Liz answered with a smile"<

When she was coming down, she didn't hear Lucky asking his mother if everything was ready. And she also didn't hear Laura answer that everyone would be there.

"-Hey guys, she said, entering the kitchen

-Hey Peaches! Answered Lucky

-Tired of lulu already? Asked Laura wiith a smile

-No, never. But I thought I should comme down here and spend time with you guys too, Liz answered"

She walked in on something, she could sense it. Lucky was talking to his mother, probably about something he didn't want her to hear. Probably about the incident with Marysa. Thinking about that, Liz's eyes changed expression. She still couldn't forgive herself, even though Lucky did. Laura was busy looking at her son to see the turmoil that was going on inside Elizabeth.

The next day, Liz couldn't take it anymore, and she went to the hospital to see a doctor. Of course, she couldn't go at General Hospital. First because it would hurt her too much to see that Audrey wasn't there, and second, everybody knew her, and it would eventually come to Lucky's ears. She went to Mercy.

The doctor she saw was a woman. Dr. Sinclair.

"-So what can I do for you today Ms. Spencer? She asked

-Well, I've been late for a week now. Maybe I'm just overreacting

-Have you ever been later before?

-Almost two year ago was my only time. I was under a lot of stress back then

-And did you experience that kind of sttress lately?

-Oh no. I'm usually on the spot. Thatt's why I'm a little worried.

-Ok, we are gonna run a couple of testss but before we do, did you have unprotected sex during the last month?

-Yes I did.

-Ok, then before everything, we'll makee a pregnancy test ok?"

Elizabeth agreed. After all, she was here for that. They ran the test, and she anxiously waited the results. Dr. Sinclair came back in her office.

"-Well, we won't have to run further test Ms. Spencer. This one is enough. Congratulations, you are expecting.

-Oh My God! She gasped

-I take it you are not pleased?

-I don't know yet. I mean I had a ideaa it might be it, but I haven't even talked about it with my husband, I don't know how he will react

-Well, if you want, I can refer you to a good ob-gyn. I suggest you go home and talk it over with your husband. Here's my colleague's card, give her a call if you have any questions

-Thank you Dr. Sinclair"

Walking home Elizabeth was thinking. How could she talk about it with Lucky? They never even talked about having children. She didn't even know if he wanted any. She just thought they would finish school and then talk about having a family, but it looked like it wouldn't go that way. What could she do?
