"Hi Angel, You probably are wondering where I am. I went shopping for you Christmas present, while you were out. You certainly disappeared fast this morning, I wasn't even up! Anyway, I'm sorry I missed my good-morning kiss, I will give you two for it tonight. Love you with my soul, Lucky. P.S. don't try and guess what your present will be, because you will have no clue whatsoever.
Elizabeth laughed out loud. He knew her so well. She would try and guess her present, and she would torture him until he gave out. She decided to go shop too, for her family's presents. That included Luke, Laura, Lesley Lu and Nikolas. Lucky's presents were already wrapped. She heard a knock on the door, and Nikolas passed his head in the room after she said come in
"-Are you decent? He asked with a smile
-Hi my favorite brother-in-law, come heere and give me a hug"
Nikolas held Liz in his arms with a smile. His brother was lucky to have a woman like her in his life. Sure he had Emily, but she couldn't compare to Liz. He wasn't in love with Liz, he just thought she was pretty terrific.
"-How have you been? He asked. You look wonderful
-You don't look so bad yourself, she annswered with a smile. No one's home
-I know where are they?
-All I know is that Lucky is gone shoppping
-SHOPPING?
-Yeah, she said with a laugh. For my CChristmas present. I was just on my way there myself
-Want some company? I'm supposed to piick Emily up and go with her shopping
-Sure, it's a date! Let's go
-Lead the way Mrs. Spencer"
Elizabeth smiled at him and they went to the Quartermaine mansion. Emily was happy to see Liz, but a little surprise. Nikolas told her that Liz had begged him to come and he didn't have the heart to say no. Elizabeth slapped him on the shoulder, before started laughing.
"-So what's new between you and lucky? Asked Emily"
Elizabeth was dying to tell them what she found out earlier that day, but couldn't. She wanted Lucky to be the first to know but when she would tell him, she had no idea. Instinctively, her hand went to touch her belly. Emily saw her, but didn't say anything. Maybe Liz just had a cramp she thought, but with the expression on her face, Emily didn't quite believe that.
Elizabeth couldn't find nothing she wanted to give Luke. Everything seemed to plain to give to the parent she had grown to love as her own. She already had Laura's gift. It was a painting she made of her "four" children, Nikolas, Lucky, Lulu and her. She later found a cap like Luke adored and she bought it. It wasn't quite what she had in mind, but that had to do. She bought perfume for her sister, a beautiful sweater for her mom, and a brand new tobacco pipe for her dad. At that store, she also found a box of cigar and bought it for Luke. Now that he would like. Nikolas went away, so Emily and Liz could buy his presents. Elizabeth bought for him a French book of poetry. Without her friend seeing, Liz bought Emily a cute little bracelet.
They were walking out of a store, when Emily stopped walking and Liz bumped into her. Elizabeth looked the same way, and she saw Lucky coming out of a store with his mother. Nikolas, Emily and Liz tried to turn around but it was too late, Lucky already saw them and was walking towards his wife with a huge smile on his face.
"-You came here to check up on me? He asked Liz with a smile
-Yeah, I wanted to be sure you wouldn'tt buy me something ugly and I'd have to wait in line to return it!"
Lucky laughed and gently kissed her. Her heart started racing a mile a minute, like every time he touched her. Liz kissed Laura on the cheek, and they all stood up, no one saying anything.
"-Well, I'll see you at home, Liz said to Lucky
-You don't want to continue shopping wiith us? Asked Laura
-Well, we still haven't found your giftt yet mom, so I guess not, said Nikolas
-Ok then, Emily, want to join us for diiner?
-Well I don't want to intrude
-Oh don't be ridiculous, you are alwayss welcome
-Ok then!"
Lucky kissed Elizabeth good-bye and whispered I love you in her ear. She smiled at him and started walking away. She didn't hear Lucky say "It was a close call" to his mother.
Elizabeth, Nikolas and Emily went home and wrapped their presents before every one else came home. They put the gifts under the tree, and started playing card games. Elizabeth couldn't concentrate and she was always losing. Without Nikolas and Emily looking, she had bought some stuff to put in Lucky's stocking, like a pacifier, a rattle, a ring for baby teeth and other baby-related stuff. She had decided that this was the best way to tell him.
The Spencer spent the day signing Christmas carols in the living room. Lucky was playing his guitar, and Luke was signing them blues' style, making everybody laugh. Lesley Lu was sitting on Liz's lap, clapping her hands. Nikolas was supposed to come by later that evening, before they went to church.
Elizabeth was in their bedroom, getting ready for church. It was almost time to go. Lucky was wearing a costume, with a tie. Elizabeth thought her heart would stop when he walked through the door, smiling. Without saying anything he took her hand, and they went downstairs. Lucky's parents were waiting for them, with their coat already on. Laura said she had to take a picture before they went to church. It was magical. Purely magical.
Elizabeth was surprised to see everybody they knew there. "This is a very religious town" she thought. Bobbie waved at them from the front of the church, showing them she saved their seats. Everyone was très chic. Lucas was sitting next to his mother. He was wearing almost the same suit Lucky was. The priest came in front of everybody, and the church was suddenly very quiet.
"-Thank you everybody. He priest said. As you all know, a very special young man came to see me with a request a couple of weeks ago. He wanted to get married tonight and I agreed to it. So, before I start my sermon, I will do what he asked me too, and bless his marriage right here, right now. Can Mister Lucas Spencer Junior come here next to me with his witness so we can start?"
Elizabeth could not believe her ears. Lucky did this? He asked everyone to be there so they could get married in front of God, like he promised her they would? Tears came to her eyes. Lucky smiled at her and got up, as Nikolas passed next to him. It was weird seeing Lucky and Nikolas together, next to the priest, but Elizabeth understood Nikolas was his brother's witness.
"-Now, said the priest, I would ask the father of the bride to bring her to us."
Elizabeth turned around, to see his father coming down the aisle, with her mother and sister. Oh My God! She whispered. They were really getting married here, tonight? And her parents came for it? She thought she was about to faint.
Jeff took her hand and helped her up. She slowly walked towards the front of the church. Her legs were about to give out on her. That was the reason Lucky wanted her to dress up. How could he keep this from her? And if he asked the priest a couple of weeks ago, that meant it was already set up when the whole Marysa fiasco happened. Thoughts were coming in and out of her head so fast she was dizzy.
"-Who gives this woman? The priest asked
-I am, said Jeff."
Jeff took Elizabeth's hand and placed it on Lucky's arms
"-Dearly beloved we are gather here today to join this young couple in holy matrimony. We all know they are already married, but they wanted their union to be blessed by God, in front of everyone they love. Now, before I continue, is there someone here who have a good reason for this couple not to get married. Let them speak now, or forever hold their peace"
Elizabeth was looking around and all she could see was smiles everywhere. She looked at Lucky and smiled through her tears. For the thousandth time since they were married she thought about what she ever did to deserve him.
All throughout the church you could hear people sniffling and blowing their noses. Laura was crying a river and Luke too was wiping a tear from his eyes. Bobbie was holding Jerry's hand. Madeline had her arm around Sarah. Elizabeth's sister was crying, but it wasn't tears of joy.
"-Now, Lucas would like to say a few words to his wife, as he vow his undying love for her."
Lucky looked at Elizabeth and wiped a tear from her eye. He smiled at her and took a deep breath. His hands were shaking, as he took his wife's.
"-From the first time I saw you, I knew you were special, and I was scared. I didn't want to get close to you, get to know you, get to love you. As time passed, I realized that I could not live without you. Here and now, in front of God and everyone I care about and love, I vow to cherish you and make you laugh at least once everyday. I vow to protect you from harm. I vow to take care of you, in sickness and in health. I vow to give you brownies and peanut butter sandwiches every time you feel like it. I vow to wipe the tears from your eyes, and to do my best to prevent them from coming. I vow to make your dreams come true, no matter how silly they are. I vow never to run away from you again and most of all, I vow to love you for the rest of my life"
Elizabeth's tears were falling down her face faster then every before. Lucky looked at her and laughed a little
"-That is not good, I already broke two vows!"
Elizabeth laughed and listened to the priest as he finished his sermon.
"-I now declare your marriage blessed by the hands of God. You may kiss the bride"
As Lucky's lips joined Elizabeth's she knew she could never love him more than at this very moment. Time would prove her wrong.
