-Never been more serious of anything inn my life. Us living together will be legal and there is nothing you can do about it.
-You have to be and adult to get a marrriage license
-Not in this state. They marry as younng as 16.
-The city of Port Charles don't acknowlledge your marriage
-So what? By the time we will be back in Port Charles, we will both be 21, so it will be legal for us to be married"
Audrey was panicking. She knew Elizabeth had the guts to go through with this crazy idea. She couldn't just accept them living together, but she didn't want them to run off and get married either.
Lucky was still in shock by Liz's proposal. He had thought of everything while he was sitting in the hallway, anything but THAT. He couldn't possibly say yes, she told him she wasn't ready for marriage. She was just looking at this possibility as a way out. But then again, he couldn't say no in front of her grandmother, because she would have Liz back in Port Charles kicking and screaming. Why their love always seemed to be so complicated.
"-Lizzie, sweetie, there must be some way we can come to an understanding. Audrey said. It wouldn't be so bad if Lucky moved back in his dorm room, you could still see each other every day.
-Gram, I'll have you know that even if I agreed to this, only to make you happy, the minute you would walk out this door, he would move right back in and there is nothing you can do about that. So either you give us your blessing or we are getting married."
At this point, Elizabeth noticed that Lucky was awfully quiet. In fact, she was just assuming they would get married, because he never agreed to it. Sure he asked her before coming here, but maybe he had changed his mind since then. Liz was beginning to feel really nervous.
"-I'm calling your parents Lucky, maybe they will be able to knock some sense into you, since obviously I can't! Said Audrey.
-Suit yourself, he just answered, givinng her the phone"
Lucky put his arm around Liz's shoulder, and they watched Audrey angrily composing the number to the Spencer's house. The only thing Audrey said to Laura was;
"-Would you mind talking to your son?
-What's going on Lucky? Said Laura wheen her son took the phone
-Well, Mrs. Hardy came to visit with Liiz and she kinda freaked out when she saw we were living together
-YOU ARE LIVING TOGETHER? Said Laura. Lucky, you can't be serious, you guys are way to young to share an apartment
-Oh because you were older when you marrried Scott?
-It didn't last did it? Replied Laura,, unknowingly gave a reason for Lucky to be scared
-Well, anyway, Elizabeth told her granddmother either she let us live together, or we are getting married. That's why she called you
-Oh My God! Lucky don't you dare move,, I'll be right there
-Mom you don't need to come here
-Oh yes I do!"
And without saying bye she hung up the phone. Lucky told Liz his mom was on her way here and she shook her head in disbelief. Lucky took five minutes to call Greg, explained the situation why they wouldn't go to the movies with him and Melissa after all. Lucky couldn't stop thinking about what his mom had told him about not behind together in a couple of years. He couldn't imagine his life without Elizabeth. What if Laura was right? What if there was a chance, just a little one, that they were indeed rushing into it? Could he bear the pain of losing her again?
Liz saw the transformation in Lucky's face since he talked to his mother. She was scared that he would agree with them and move out.
"-Gram, would you mind if Lucky and I went in the hallway? We have to talk about all this
-Not at all Liz, I'll wait here."
As soon as she closed the door, Lucky took her in his arms and held her close to his heart. Liz was sensing the desperation in his embrace. She held on to him. Lucky told her what Laura said about her and Scott, and rushing and not being together anymore. Liz held him closer, and told him that would never happened. He needed her as much as she needed him, and even Greg said he never saw people that much in love. Melissa said that their story could make a movie. The marriage came to the conversation and Lucky told her he didn't want to get married.
"-What do you mean you don't want to get married? She said in a flash. I thought you said your proposal was a real one. Was that just a line in a letter?
-Of course I still want to marry you beeautiful! But you didn't want to get married for the wrong reason. Isn't this a wrong reason? We can tell your grandmother I'm moving back with Greg and when she is gone I'll come back
-Lucky, it wouldn't work, I already tolld her we'd do that, she won't let me stay here. I thought you were serious! I should've have known you would break your promise just like everyone else in my life, it was just a matter of time!
-Elizabeth, I didn't break my promise, I'm just saying what you told me!
-Why can't you be a little more like yoour father! He would've caught up already
-What the hell are you talking about?
-Yeah, you said you thought you weren'tt ready for marriage
-That's it Lucky. I THOUGHT, past tensse?
-Oh!"
He didn't say anything else, he just took her in his arms, and starting swirling her around the hallway. They were both laughing, and Liz was crying. She never thought she's have the guts to say it, but now they were getting married. THEY WERE GETTING MARRIED!!!
Lucky was out of breath, and his heart was beating out of control. He didn't understand why he was so excited about it. After all, they have been living together, and they knew they would be together forever, so what was the big deal? The only thing he knew was he never wanted to let her out of his arms.
They went back into the apartment, hand in hand. Audrey knew something changed between them, just by looking at them. They looked like a couple of newlywed.
"-Oh my God! She gasped"
THAT was what they talked about. Lucky accepted to marry her. What would she do? Th only thing she could
"-Elizabeth, there is no way I am letting you get married at 17! You are coming back with me to Port Charles tonight!
-You'll have to get me back kicking andd screaming, because I'm not going anywhere.
-And you would have to pass through me first, answered Lucky
-Besides, I would have to miss a year oof school because the PCU won't accept me now.
-What if I take a year off from work annd move in here?
-Where would Lucky go? Asked a concernned Liz
-My old room has already been given to someone else Mrs. Hardy."
Audrey thought that they thought about everything. She had to think of someway to get them separated. She decided to wait until Laura got here, and together, maybe they would find a weakness.
Laura arrived a couple of hours later. Luke wanted to come, but Laura knew that he would just take his son's side, so she told him to stay home with Lulu. She thought about the problem during the plane ride and, arriving at the kids' apartment, she still had no answer to give Audrey. Lucky didn't make a big deal of his mother's arrival. Liz and him were going away during the night. Lucky would spend the night at a motel with his mom, giving his bed to Mrs. Hardy.
When everybody see they wouldn't be reaching to a deal that night, they went to bed. Lucky kissed Liz and whispered in her ear that he would come back at 2 a.m. Audrey went to bed, fell asleep right away. She was exhausted after her trip, and the fight she had all day with Liz and Lucky.
Elizabeth waited for her grandmother to sleep, wrote her a note and went right away outside. If she waited, she may not have another chance of getting out. Liz called Lucky, said that she was already in the hall, waiting for him. Laura wasn't asleep, but Lucky told her he was going to talk to his friend Greg, because he had a fight with Melissa. Nothing, and no one would keep him away from Liz that night.
Greg was taking them to one of his friends, a justice of the peace. He had agreed to marry the young adults. Greg told him the situation, and Patrick reassured him not to worry, he would take care of the marriage licence. Lucky was dressed in black pants, a white shirt, and a tie. Elizabeth was wearing a short white dress, and had flowers in her hand. Lucky asked her for the thousandth time if that was really the kind of wedding she wanted.
"-Lucky, for the 100th time yes! As long as you are the groom, I don't really care about the wedding. One day, we will say our vows in front of God, but tonight the people are enough.
-People? What people?
-You know? When the priest say in fronnt of God and the people?"
Lucky laughed and kissed her. She was beautiful, more beautiful than he ever saw her. When he told her that she blushed, and smiled at him. There was so much love in her eyes Lucky thought his heart had stopped beating. Finally, Patrick said he was ready to begin. Lucky had asked him to make it short, they had to be back before Laura and Audrey could see they were missing.
"-Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to join this man, and this woman, in matrimony."
Started Patrick, but Lucky wasn't hearing anything of his speech. He was holding Elizabeth's hands in his, and was looking deep into her soul. Greg had the rings. They were all smiles, and the judge thought he had rarely seen two people that much in love. Lucky looked at Liz. He was seeing her with a ray of light around her, and he whispered to her she looked like an angel.
"-Lucas Lorenzo Spencer Junior, do you take Elizabeth, to be your lawfully-Wedded wife? Do you promise to cherish her, love her, and honor her, till death do you part? Asked Patrick
-I do, answered Lucky, with the heart aabout to leap out of his chest.
-Elizabeth Webber, do you take Lucas, tto be your lawfully-wedded husband? Do you promise to cherish him, love him and honor him, till death do you part?
-I do.
-Does someone have the rings, a symbol of their love and promises to each other?
-We do, answered Greg and Melissa"
he gave the rings, and stepped back.
"-Lucas, take the ring in your hand, place it on her finger and say with this ring, I thee wed.
-With this ring, I thee wed.
-Now Elizabeth, take the ring, place itt on his finger and say with this ring, I thee wed
-With this ring, I thee wed.
-By the power invested in me by the lawws of this state, I now pronounce you husband and wife. Mister Spencer, you may now be the first to kiss Mrs..Lucas Spencer."
Lucky gently took Liz's head in his hands and kissed her slowly. Melissa was wiping the tears off of her face, while Greg too her in his arms. Elizabeth was crying too, as Lucky was laughing.
They went home, hand in hand. Lucky walked Elizabeth to their door, kissed her one last time.
"-Good night Mister Spencer She said
-Good night Mrs. Spencer, he answered"<
She opened the door, looked at him one last time, and closed it. They both lean against it, and smiled.
