Recent Notes on Shipmates

Trying to get shipmates to sign the guest book is pretty hard.  Most say they will over the phone but often never get around to it.    A number of our former shipmates do not have a computer.  I thought it might be good to add a few comments over just indicating that a shipmate is "located".   This is heavily weighted toward the 1963-65 era   We do not list addresses or e mail addresses due to privacy.  You can get many shipmates' e mail addresses in the Guestbook.  You can call me for information on any you want to contact.  We are on a strong campaign to get everyone's e mail address so you can receive any Tracer news.  Please give us your e mail address. Original notes written in 2003.  Updated 2006.

Chief Lyle M. Worden, CSC, 1963-65,  lives in Washington.  Lyle doesn't seem computer literate but his wife gave us his e mail address so he will receive news from the Tracer.... His e mail address hasn't worked for two years (2006).

He
nry Hemphill, SD1 1963-65, still lives in Oakland and says he bought  a computer.  He will get an e mail address within the next 20 days. He still has that same happy attitude I remember 38 years ago.  I hope Henry reads this soon and signs the guestbook.. I guess he is still unpacking the computer??  Haven't heard from him.

Lee Doyel has talked to Roscoe Strother's grandson in San Diego.  .We found his name in SSDI.  WE need to get a confirmation from a family or friend.

Phil Deardorf, LTJG, 1964-65,  sent me a nice letter.   He is not connected to the internet and hopes to some day attend a reunion. We should see Phil in S.F. in 2005.  He attended the 2005 Annual Reunion in S.F..

George Harrington, LTJG, 1964-65,   He prefers to golf and do physical things rather than sit all day with a computer. George is retired and working as an educational administrator.  He has Linda out working as a school teacher.

George Koetje, LTJG, 1963-65, according to his cousin John, died of cancer in 1993.  George has a wife and two sons.

CO Glenn P. Barney, 1964-65, passed away in 1991.

CO Al Reid LCDR, 1962-64,  attended the reunion in Pensacola.  He says that the Tracer was the best duty station ever..   Coming from probably a 30 year veteran, I'm impressed. His wife appears to be the computer expert and I gave her all the information to enter our website.  We look forward to Capt Reid's comments in our guestbook.  Capt Reid plans to attend the reunion in Philadelphia in 2004.

XO Rod Flannery, 1963-64, .  He attended the reunion in Philadelphia in 2004.   It was nice to see our XO and RADM.   He enjoyed the Phila reunion and will try to join us again .
