Command Center
A Command Center is an organizational tool that concentrates all the household business in one area. By "business" I mean schedules, charts, bills, mail, phone messages, etc. Set your command center up in specific area of your home. I recommend the kitchen since that is the most popular room in any household. Before you begin, make a list of everything you will use your command center for. Buy your materials and then put everything up. Take a moment one evening to introduce your family to the new system and make sure they understand it's purpose.
This is our new Command Center.  The cart I got at Sam's Club.  The drawers open and close smoothly and are very roomy inside.  The basket on top holds address labels, envelopes, and the markers to the wipe off board.  A roll of stamps sits on top too.  We buy a roll of 100 stamps.  It's easier than books and they tend to last longer.  The wipe off calendar has a colour for everything from appointments to entertainment (TV premeires & sporting events) to our dinner menus.
On our fridge we have a tack board where we tack up ads, coupons, schedules, travel itineraries, etc.  On the other side of our fridge we have a smaller wipe off board for grocery lists and a three holed cubby for daily mail.
