Cincinnati Christian Schools Traditional Tae Kwon Do System

A belt test will occur after each session, which lasts approximately five weeks.  The student then has the option of either belt testing or tip testing.  This is a wonderful opportunity for the student to see if they have met the challenge and improved himself or herself to the point where he or shey is able to take another step along the path.  These tests also are chances for the sudent to gain self-confidence.  On these testing days, classes will typically be one hour longer than usual so be prepared.

A testing fee is required to cover the breaking materials, new belts, and frameable certification of new rank.  They fees do not increase in years.  If serious financial difficultes require, please know that exceptions can be made by the senior instructor,
Sah Bum Nim.  Keep in mind that tip testing does not require any fees.

Miami University Oxford Martial Arts Club Red Dragons' System

The Red Dragons have two tests during the academic school year occurring at the end of the semester.  There can be special cases where tests may be arranged, but this must be discussed with the instructore in advance.  During the summer, many Miami students catch a class with the YMCA or at the Cincinnati Christian Schools to test as well.

University of Cincinnati College of Medicine Korean Martial Arts Society's System

UC's Korean Martial Arts Society's schedule is built to be convenient for the med student's schedule and lifestyle.  Their scheduling is irregular, so in order to catch the times when they will test, please contact Mrs. Birkemeier for information.
Belt test

There are a few requirements for belt testing that must occur a week beforehand:

1. Notify instructor that you are belt testing
2. Submit paper written on topic to the instructor, both in class and via e-mail, that corresponds to the rank that you are seeking [
here]
3. Submit testing form to the instructor
4. Submit testing fee

Tip test

Before each belt promotion, the student will have the opportunity to tip test.  This does not require a written paper or testing fee.  However, it is best to let the instructor know that you are belt testing in order to track your progression even more.
What do these tests comprise of?

1. Phyiscal fitness
2. Basic motions or techniques
3. Forms
4. One-Step Sparring or Self-defense techniques
5. Korean terminology
6. Philosophy where students present the written paper
Our Promotion system

Ranks are used in Martial arts to help students gauge their progress and are not inflated ego signs and are not used for comparing students.  Rather, students should only make a comparison of their own progress from day to day, rank to rank, in order to recognize their own improvement and progress.
