Update: August 13, 2003
I'm running out of written material! I think I have another 4 or 5 updates before I get to start writing new stuff, not just copying what I already wrote.  Also, that's about the time the fantasy part starts.
I have nothing to say today.  Just read the update, and I will be more interesting tommorow.
It had been close to a three years since Jasmin had started moving around with Bren, and their lives had been hard.  Bren had been living on his own for a year already when Jasmin joined him.  He was originally with a foster family, but ran away because the father was an alcholic, and used to hit his wife and Bren when he was drunk.  He inherited a lot of money from his parents, and had gotten a job as soon as he could.  He and Jasmin would rent apartments in the towns they moved to.  They had bought a small home now because they were tired of moving around all the time.  They were pretty happy with the town, and thought they might live here for at least a few years.  "You ready to go?" Bren called,  interrupting Jasmin's thoughts.  "Just give me a moment!" Jasmin yelled, her voice betraying none of her sad emotions.  She wiped her eyes and stuck the picture of her mom in her purse.  "Ready to go as soon as you are," she said.  "Ok, lets go then," said Bren, pulling his shirt over his head.  They walked out of the apartment and got on the elavator down to the lobby.  "You Ok?" Bren asked his cousin.  "Yah, I'm fine," Jasmin said.  "You sure," he asked.  "Yah, same old thing," Jasmin said.  "I can deal with it."  "Ok," said Bren.  Jasmin hailed a cab
The next morning Bren was up a little later then he usually was.  He had breakfast, and then went to get his training finished, since he wasnt going to have time to do it that night.  He finished up the hour he usually spent training, but decided to keep going.  After two hours had gone by, the phone rang.  "Jasmin, can you get that?" Bren said.  "Sure, no problem," said Jasmin from the other room.  Bren decided he better stop for the day, and wandered into the kitched to get some water.  "Its Jess," said Jasmin.  "Where are we meeting?" asked Bren.  "Down at the mall, near the Tim Hortons," said Jasmin.  "In about an hour or so, she says."  "Allright, works for me," said Bren.  "Gives me time for a shower."  He headed down to the bathroom, stopping at his room to grab his towel.  When Bren closed the bathroom door and turned on the shower, Jasmin crept into her room.  She opened up one of the drawers on her bedside table and pulled out a pictue of her mother, about a year before she died. Through her childhood, Jasmin's father would always talk about her mother, and show her pictures, so Jasmin felt like she knew her.  "Oh mom," Jasmin though.  "Dad's still in prison.  I still can't belive the judge found him guilty of all those crimes.  I don't understand how he could rob that bank.  They blamed him for killing the guard as well, but couldn't prove it.  He wasn't violent, and we had money, so I don't know why he did it.  It doesn't make sense.  I mean, he's been sad for as long as I can remeber, but he's always dealt with it before."  Jasmin started to cry softly, not wanting Brenen to hear her.

This update is big because I need to make up for the days I couldn't update.  The next one will be big too, becuase I only have a few pages of my notebook left.  The thing from the internet is on www.homestarrunner.com, and is very funny.  Well, enjoy!
Almost done with my notebook.  As soon as I'm done, which will be next update, the fantasy part of the story comes in.
They all turned around in shock.  Sure enough, there was a soft, flickering light flowing over the top of the stairs leading to the sixth floor.  "What the hell?" asked Jeff.  "There must be somebody up there," said Bren.  "Yah, let's go check it out," said Matt enthusiastically.  "Maybe we should just leave them alone," said Jess.  "Hey, it's how you met us," Jasmin pointed out.  "Yah, Ok," Jess gave in.  Matt and Bren took the lead up the stairs.  "I haven't been up here before, so I don't know what to expect," said Matt.  "All the more fun then," said Jasmin.  "Looks like it's coming from that room over there," said Bren, pointing to a room almost directly in front of the stairs.  "You guys go first," Jess told Matt and Bren in a whisper.  "Yah, scout it out," added Jasmin in a whisper.  "Why are you two whispering?" Jeff asked in a voice just a bit louder then the girls.  Jess and Jasmin glared at Jeff, and were about to ask him the same thing when Bren said "Let's go guys, hurry up."  They looked over at Bren, and saw he and Matt already had the door open and were waiting.  The three walked over, grumbling their apologys as they went.  Matt went inside, while Bren waited at the door for the others.  "Ummmmmm..." stuttered Matt.  "What is it?" asked Jasmin, the first to reach the door.  She walked into the room, and stopped dead.  The room was not only untouched, but it was furnished!  There was a fireplace with a big chair in front of it, and on one wall, a desk and chair inbetween two book shelves, and a fanlight hanging from the ceiling.  The opposite wall was blank with only a nice, new window, and few paintings hanging beside it.  "This is crazy, nobody's lived here for close to twenty years!" gasped Matt.
"..so then he said 'The ones I should be having with Ali and Ali's sister!'  It was hilarous!" Matt said.  The groups had just left the mall, and were headed for some picnic benches.  Matt had just finished telling them about something funny he saw on the internet.  When he finished, they all burst out laughing.  Jasmin was laughing so hard, she fell down on the grass, and had to crawl over to the benches.  When they finished laughing, and had gotten their breath back, Bren asked what was next.  It was nine o'clock and the mall had just closed.  "How about we go back to the apartment building?" Jeff suggested.  "Perfect," said Bren.  " I wanted to go back there."  "No scaring the crap out of us this time though," said Jess.  "Ha Ha, Ok fine," said Bren.  "Why don't we check out the fifth level, I've never been up there," said Matt.  "Sounds like a plan," said Jasmin.

They had arrived at the apartment building before they reliazed they had forgotten their flashlights.  There was a full moon though, so they didnt bother going back to get the lights.  "We will be able to see better when we get up to the middle floors, since the walls are knocked down," Matt said.  "It was a dark and stormy night," said Jeff in a cheesy spooky voice.  "Well, not really stormy," said Jasmin.  As if on que, lighting flashed across the sky.  "Ok... that was kinda creepy," said Jess, looking aroung.  "Scared sis?" asked Jeff.  "Course not," sniffed Jess.  They walked into the building, and it was very hard to see on the first floor, since many of the walls were still intact.  As they made their way past the first floor though, they could see much better.  The building was only seven floors high, with floors six and seven being more or less intact.  As they climbed the stairs to the fifth floor, the storm they heard hit them.  It was raining pretty hard, but the occasional flashes of lighting made it easier to see.  They got up to the fifth floor, and started looking around.  The floor was as damaged as the rest, but there were enough broken down walls to let in the moon light.  This also let in rain, but not too much.  The fifth floor wasn't that different from the other floors they had been on, so after looking around for about an hour, the group headed back to the stairs.  Matt, who went down first, turned around to make sure every one was coming down the stairs all right, and noticed something he had never seen before.  "Hey," he said.  "There's a light coming from the sixth floor!"
