Heart Transplantation and the Total Artificial Heart
This massive paper was put together over the course of about 4 months and was used as my "Senior Project," a sort of Final to end all Finals.  Though several times longer than technically allowed, I still got an A+ and I am proud of this work.  However, it is still incomplete due to a lack of material/time and will completed as I gain more experience and can better understand the topic itself.  Overall, this paper contains a massive amount of knowledge and I can answer any questions through the emails provided under the "About Me" section.  Enjoy!
Heart Transplantation Flash MX2004 (Shockwave) Presentation
I also created a visual version of the above paper in Flash MX2004 in order to provide a slightly easier to understand presentation.  This was my first attempt at any real animation outside of Windows Powerpoint and proved to be a daunting task spanning nearly 8 months.  Overall, about 2 months of concentrated (24/7) work went into the 2 phase project.  The first phase consisted of the Heart Transplantation procedure, some history, Anatomy and Physiology, and directional terms.  The second phase was prepared in addition to the first phase and the paper as a final product to be presented to the Texas Quest Panel and consisted of the immune system, artificial heart, and conclusion/credits.  In total, the presentation took up about a year and became one giant two hour presentation spanning several complex topics.  Another A in addition to a request from the panel to borrow my presentation as a template for future projects.  Thank God it's over, for now at least.
Most everyone has used a simple troubleshooting guide for their technology needs, among many others.  In other words, you select choices step-by-step until you've narrowed the problem down to a specific issue that can be dealt with accurately.  However, i've never really seen anything like that in the field of medicine.  While this can't and won't be a replacement for real medical advice and treatment, knowing what is wrong is 90% of the work.  This specific guide will deal with the heart and related structures.  Feedback and information is welcome!
