Garden Party
Perfect spring or summer party idea-make it a garden theme!  Whether it is a birthday, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Independence Day, or a sunny day; celebrate with flowers and plants.
ACTIVITIES
What you need:

Small plastic or terra cotta pots
Paint and paintbrushes or sponges
Decorative stones/faux gems
Glue
Polyurethane-spray
Potting or planting soil and stones
Small plants
Digital or Polaroid Camera
Computer w/Printer and Paper
Magnets
Thin Cardboard
Plant a Flower!

Have each person decorate his/her pot as desired:
                painted design or phrase
                pattern glued on with stones

Enjoy a snack while the designs dry!
Once the designs are dry, spray with polyurethane to protect the pattern.
Place stones (larger than the holes in the bottom of the pots) in the bottom of each pot.
Fill about 1/2 each pot with soil.
Gently remove plant from retail container and carefully separate if needed.
Place the plant in the pot so the
top of the roots are level with the bottom of the rim of the pot.  Add more soil or remove soil as needed to achieve this level.
Fill in with additional soil around the plant, and carefully pat down soil.
Water the plant.
Photo-Opportunity

Print up a great floral
background on your home printer.
Glue the paper to thin cardboard.
Cut it out in any shape you want, including a space in the middle for a photograph.
Note:  Using craft scissors gives it a more natural look, especially if the background is busy!
Take a picture of each guest holding his/her plant, or in a scenic garden area.
Give the guest the resulting photograph.
Glue or secure the photograph to the back of the background so the image is visible through the "window."
Glue magnets to the back or add a decorative ribbon for hanging up the frame and picture.
Don't forget to write the name of the person and the date on the back!
