"Smoochie" (pronounced smushy, for obvious reasons) first visited us as "Tabby", an intact male who had probably been the victim of a gunshot wound. His lower jaw (mandible) was disconnected from his upper jaw (the maxilla). The owner opted for surgery over euthanasia. Through a series of attempts, Dr. Smith was able to repair the tom's mouth such that, after several weeks of tube feeding, he was able to once again consume food himself in adequate quantities to survive.

Thus, a now neutered kitty with the appropriate monicker "Smoochie" rejoined his family.
These photos were taken in April of 2004: "Smoochie" had met with another unfortunate accident which again resulted in damage to his jaw. Once again reduced to scooping liquified canned food into his mouth, "Smoochie" makes quite a mess. No longer a tomcat, but still messy and mischievous...
