Updates ongoing.
Last update October 13, 2005.

NOTE 10-13-2005: Boy these links are really beginning to need a new organizational scheme. Some are Applied Linguistics; some are Teaching Tips, etc. They need to be organized by field...

BTW, lately I've been noticing that http://www.education.leeds.ac.uk/ is a good place to look for goodies...

Some sites below are rated according to their usefulness as a resource. The links are sorted by ranking, not by topic or field, but they should all be related to TESL, SLA, general research or net activity. Most are more useful for teachers, but some are for students. This is an ongoing project. Ratings are as follows:

 Indispensable

    Outstanding

        Useful
un       Unrated

Earl Stevick's downloadable book, 'Success with Foreign Languages: Seven who achieved it and what worked for them,' casts serious doubt on absolutist positions. If you take the experience of Stevick's seven learners seriously, you will conclude that 'one-size-fits-all' language teaching is not supported by evidence.

After reading Earl Stevick, I recommend reading Tim Murphey's 1995 article Identity and Beliefs in Language Learning
