TICKET DAY 2002

Ticket Day 2002 takes place Saturday, May 4th, 2002.

Tickets go on sale at 9:00am in the Baseball Hall of Fame Gift Shop. Outfield tickets will cost $10.00 each.

The line for tickets begins to form on Friday morning outside the Hall of Fame in Cooper Park with people camping out and such.

Expect to head to Cooperstown late Friday afteroon, arriving in the evening.

Betty's Twisted Acres Hall-of-Fame Weekend coincides with the Baseball Hall of Fame's Induction Weekend.

The Hall holds it's Induction on Sunday and an extra-special exhibition game between two Major League teams at beautiful Doubleday Field on Monday.

Tickets for this game, one of the absolute highlights of BTA HOF Weekend, go on sale at the Hall of Fame in April. AcreHeads converge on Cooperstown, NY, the night before tickets go on sale, mark their spot on line, and hang out all night long in one of the most beautiful towns in America. Sound like fun? Come on up to Ticket Day!

Some important tips and information to know
before you come up for Ticket Day:

  • It is very, very important that you bring a folding chair with you. The chair will mark your spot on line, and without it, you'll have to stand on line all night! What fun is that???
  • Unlike previous years, the Hall of Fame will not allow your seat to mark your place in line. This means that we will have to spend all night out on line like we used to in the early days. This means dress appropriately, bring a sleeping bag to go with your lounge chair, and pack a cooler with your favorite beverage!
  • We should still be able to kill some hours having a hoot at our favorite hotspots, The Bold Dragoon and Fitzpatrick's on Pioneer Street in the heart of Cooperstown. We'll be at either of these spots untl 2am, then we'll be on the line.
  • Unlike during Induction Weekend, there is plenty of parking available on Main Street in Cooperstown. Bring a pillow & blanket to leave in the car should you get really chilly.
  • You might want to consider getting a room at one of the 2 inns right near the Hall of Fame. The Tunnecliff Inn is 2 blocks from the Hall, and their phone number is 607-547-9611. The Lakefront Motel is right on the shore of Lake Otsego, 3 blocks or so from the Hall, and their number is 607-547-9511. Reservations at both are highly recommended (the sooner you make them, the better). This allows you a warm spot to use the toilet and freshen up (or even take a shower!)
  • Most important of all: make SURE that your tickets are in (or as close as possible to) SECTION 313 (home of Betty's Royal Rooters... that's us). When you get to the counter, just ask for tickets in the back rows of Section 313. If 313 is sold out, ask for 314, etc.

TICKET DAY CHECKLIST

  • LOUNGE CHAIR (something comfy that you could conk out in)
  • WARM CLOTHES (Cooperstown is right on Lake Otsego, making the night air chi-lee!)
  • PILLOW & BLANKET
  • COOLER
  • PONCHO/UMBRELLA
  • SOAP/TOOTHBRUSH/TOOTHPASTE
  • BEER MONEY!
  • Oh yeah... TICKET MONEY ($10 per ticket)

TWISTED ACRES HALL-OF-FAME WEEKEND 10
Betty's Twisted Acres Hall-of-Fame Weekend 10 takes place Thursday, July 25th thru Tuesday, July 30th, 2002.

It started with just one guy heading to the Induction alone in a downpour. The next year, it was a handful of folks. A year later, they decided to give it a name and a T-Shirt. Now, 12 years later, Betty's Twisted Acres Hall-of-Fame Weekend has taken on an almost legendary status, a kind of aura that can only come as a result of the combination of the perfect place with the perfect people.

The donation that is paid when you spend Hall-of-Fame Weekend with us is put to good use around the Acreage. This year's donation of $30 per person gets you the annual goodie bag which includes this year's official Hall-of-Fame Weekend 10 T-Shirt and other great surprises that are being put together as we speak, not to mention full use of the, shall we say, quaint facilities at Twisted Acres.

This year's a big one for us... the 10th Anniversary Hall-of-Fame Weekend. We've come a long way together, and we're really looking forward to a special time with a special bunch of folks.

IMPORTANT:
If you're interested in a LONG-SLEEVE T-SHIRT instead of a short sleeve,
e-mail Marty
and let him know to order you a long-sleeve T-Shirt.

  • A cooler for your brews
  • Bath and beach towels

BTA HOF Weekend 10 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

Sat.
July 27th

Cooperstown: FREE NY-Penn League game will take place at Doubleday Field. Teams TBA. Game starts at 2pm, but as we said, it's FREE admission, so get there early...

The Acreage: 4pm - The Fourth Annual RUSTY McGIVNEY MEMORIAL SOFTBALL GAME. Game takes place at Max V. Shaul State Park, 6 miles from Middleburgh. Sign up to play in the game when you arrive at the Acreage for Hall of Fame Weekend. After the game, we'll head back to Twisted Acres for BBQ, beer and campfire. The game's results will be forever posted on our Rusty Tribute Page... You could also spend the day visiting Howe or Secret Caverns, hiking Vromans' nose, swimming at Frank's Falls, exploring The Acreage, and, of course, Campfire with Mr. Jukebox after dark.

Sun.
July 28th

Cooperstown: 1:30pm - Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Ozzie Smith is this year's inductee (Veterans' Committee voting results TBA). If you wish to attend the ceremony (and want breakfast at Mrs. K's, too), expect to leave the Acreage by 10:00am.

The Acreage: Do what you like! But collect some kindling for the Campfire with Mr. Jukebox after dark.

Mon.
July 29th

Cooperstown: 1pm - Baseball Hall of Fame Game - Chicago White Sox vs. Colorado Rockies. The Home Run Contest takes place at 1pm, and the game starts at 2pm. Remember, one of the reasons we're in Section 313 is that we're in prime Home Run territory. Bring a mitt, and be ready to catch a ball. We seem to get one every year!

The Acreage: For those hearty souls staying with us one last night, let's have another Campfire!
