| -April 12, 1676- The first starvessel was launched. The HSV Harponia ventured out into space. A crew of 18 ventured out to the last known coordinates of the wormhole and then plotting a course for the nearby habitable planet of Leuname. The wormhole opened and the Harponia was jettisoned 86.5 thousand light-years. There they were in a new solar system. They were about to make Initial Communications. Initial Communications is what the UNITED AMALGAMATION OF NATIONS has dubbed the first contact between the two species. This historic event would inaugurate the Harponians into an era of peace and war. When the Harponians had first arrived, they thought their scanners had malfunctioned because it had put them half way across the galaxy. The Harponians hailed back to Harponia with no answer understandably. They had planned to set down on the surface of one of the planets when a vessel of sorts arrived in front of theirs. The Harponia hailed the vessel with no response at first. They hailed a second and third time with no response. They were about to head back when the other vessel made contact. The Harponians were spellbound by the fact that there were other life forms actually out there in space. Captain Theodore Da’as (with no relation to the Emperor) sent greetings to the other starvessel. The other vessel greeted them and had apprehensions of their arrival. They were loading their weapons when Da’as said that they were on a mission of peace. Mathematics was used as a language to communicate since the other race did not understand HarponianThe alien race greeted the Harponia into their space. They were sent back with knowledge of their race and vice versa. Coming through the wormhole, the Harponia was welcomed with jubilation that all of the crew was well. They now knew that they were not alone and that they had a new friend on the other side of the galaxy. -1678- Delegates from the other planet (Treida) came representing the Imperial authority of House Curry. The Curry House came to Harponia and shared additional information with the Harponian people. This second contact insured lasting relations with the Curry House. Contact with both cultures continued for 100 years. -1780- A regular meeting with the Curry House spurred controversy. The House was speculated on developing something that might endanger the Harponian people. The House calmed these fears and said it was only gossip. The Harponian people soon figured that it was the truth and that the Curry House was creating a genetically enhanced human being. The Curry House refuted these claims. -January 2, 1781- At one of the two governments conferences, the Curry House had announced that they were in fact creating super beings. The Harponians could not support this genetic alteration of a sentient being. For such reasons as to there might be psychological and physical defects. At this time in history, the Harponian people were close allies since initial communications. Since this issue was in deep dispute between the two governments, officials were sent to both solar systems via the wormhole in close proximity to each solar system. |
-1782- With talks going nowhere, both governments agreed to have some final talks. HC emphasized that the beings would improve society and benefit their entire race. The Harponian High Ministry stated objections in their case. Even so, HC went on creating these superior beings without the acknowledgement or consent of the Harponian High Ministry. -July 28, 1782- On one of the last talks between the two governments, HC brought one of their enhanced sentient beings. This being had shown its higher intelligence and how it could benefit to the Curry house and entire civilizations. Within three hours of initial communications it had lost control of itself and killed High Ministress Sarah Tonin. The Harponian High Ministry had warned the Curry House that that kind of side affect might happen. House Curry apologized and left the talks abruptly to proceed to their Solar System. -August 4, 1782- Seven days after the talks, House Curry sent 100 of its super beings to the Harponian System via the wormhole. The Harponian people were not ready for this kind of onslaught. Some warned that the Curry House was full of crazy magistrates that were bent on conquering any race they encountered. So began the Eugenics War. -August 4, 1782-1794- In the Era of the Eugenics War, billions of people lost their lives. Towards the end of the War, 25% of the Harponian people lost their lives. With the drive and will of Richard Lewandowski, the Harponian people were determined to regain their planet. The Harponians won the War. With what was left of the remaining government, they launched a massive counter attack. It was an old style nuclear weapon the X1-7Z-01. This weapon of mass destruction was the only means of retaliation by the Harponian people. The weapon was sent on the HVS Harponia- the first vessel to make initial communications with the Treidies Solar System. This mission dubbed “Katcha’ra” (which means 'times 2' in ancient Othampan dialect). The weapon was deployed and had reached the wormhole twelve minutes after it had entered space . When the weapon was deployed, it destroyed the wormhole. But one weapon went astray and exploded on the Royal Palace killing all but one of the royal heirs.. Relations on both sides were severed for centuries. The Harponian people destroyed the wormhole with much reluctance. This would ensure no retaliation by the Curry people. The war lasted for ten years. -1790-1890- The Reconstruction Era of their civilization. With the building up of their country all over again, they draft a planetary Constitution. This constitution still holds today. |
