Poetry Corner Page #5

Here is the fifth page of poetry. If you are interested in posting your poetry please e-mail me and I will create a web page with all of our poetry on it. You could even send short stroies or anything of that nature. E-mail me at uchicago2006@hotmail.com to be added. Don't forget that under each poem is the name of the author with a link back to their profile.

University of Chicago in Chicago

University of Chicago in Chicago
Johns, Janes, maybe even an Iago
Will come to learn, learn, sleep and graze.
It's so great, the creator we'll surely praise-
Ol' John D. Rockefeller.
But forget you that copy of Ol' Yeller,
For now the diet's strictly Nabokov.
We?ll see not black and white only mauve.
The prophs will like our brains
But not our legs- oh so many strains.
Don't worry dear- let's just dance.
It doesn?t matter if we poop our pants.
T.S. told me there's time to murder and create.
So until our graduation date
We'll dream of Californ-e-a
Pornograph-ia
Velouria
Or whatever makes us elate.
Now hold my hand and wait
For September's date.

Preface: I write mostly short fiction, but this is a good introduction to my writing style; this poem was written a year or so ago and is best read aloud, I think.
