The Library is currently constructing an audio visual center to assist Acadamic staff and students in their teaching and learning careers.

 

 

Rules and Regulations of The University Library

  The Library strives to provide its users:
  • Access to library materials or an ability to recall them according to library policy.
  • Journals, documents and books that are complete and not vandalized.
    Surroundings and library collections free from the problems caused by disruptions, food, beverages and other damaging substances.
  • A library Environment suitable for reading, study and activities in support of campus research and institutional programs
These behaviors may be covered by University policies.
Use and Protection of the Collection
  1. Removing or attempting to remove library materials, equipment or property without proper checkout or other official library authorization.
  2. Failing to either renew or return library materials when due.
  3. Concealing library materials within the library for exclusive use by an individual or group.
  4. Mutilating library materials by marking, underlining, removing pages or portions of pages, removing binding, removing electronic theft prevention devices, or in any way defacing or damaging library materials.
  5. Eating, drinking or use of tobacco products in the library, Damage caused by food, liquid or tobacco products defined as vandalism.
Use and Protection of the building library equipment.
  1. Vandalizing or defacing any part of the library building, furniture or equipment
  2. Maliciously accessing, altering, disconnecting, deleting, damaging or destroying any library equipment, computer system, network, program or data.
  3. Using library equipment to access materials that cannot be directly related to the business, educational and/or research activities of the University, or projects sponsored by a University department or institution
The Library Environment
  1. Any incident of verbal or physical abuse or harassement of library patrons or staff, causing a disturbance or engaging in behaviour that interferes with Library activities, including challenges to library staff or patrons attempting to maintain an atmosphere conducive to study, or when enforcing Library Conduct Policy. Proscribed behaviour includes, and not limited to , downloading, storing, printing, or public display of materials that interferes with official activities of Library staff and patrons.
  2. Making excessive noise, including loud conversation ,use of loud devices, pagers, portable CD players, radios, TV, DVD, cell phones, in such a manner that others are distributed.
  3. Being in an authorized areas of the library, remaining in the library after closing or when requested to leave during emergency situations, drills, or when not abiding by the Library Conduct Policy.
  4. Willfully blocking or maliciously obstructing any library entrance, exit, lobby area, staircase, aisles, or pasageway in person or by causing objects to be placed in such a manner as to cause blockage or obstruction is prohibited .
  5. Loitering, defined as "wandering from place to place with out apparent reason or business and refusing to identify oneself and to account for one's presence when requested to do so, if the surrounding circumstances are such as to indicate to a reasonable person that the public saftey demands such identification."
  6. Bringing weapons into the the library unless authorized by law is prohibited.
  7. Filming, videotaping, taking photographs, or recording is prohibited unless prior approval has been obtained with campus officials or Library Director.
Library Fees
Any patron who commites or attempts to commit any of the offensive above, or other behaviors illegal under the laws of federal, state or local government are subject to sanctions,including:
  • Being asked to leave library premises
  • Being reported to the Police.

The CMHS Library maintains an online catalogue which will become available in all of the University of Gondar library branches as soon as the internet connection to each branch is completed.

Along with that a catalogue print out is under construction and will be distributed to the Maraki and Lideta Campus Libraries whenever the computer networks are all available.
INTERNET RESEARCH AND JOURNAL SERVICE.
Online Journals and research is currently being initiated by the library staff. Please speak to the professional staff to make arrangements for in-depth research.
Use of Internet for E-mail purpose is not permitted on the library internet.
