Blast from the Past...
(Nostalgia excerpts from friends' email)
From Nancy Ritter Jones, who started Blast from the Past...

~Does anyone remember the drink they made called Green River?  This was the first one I ever tasted and it was wonderful!  Lime or cherry phosphates made at the corner drug store in Normal or at McClellan's in Bloomingtonl?  Note to all:  They are now making Green River again!
~Remember the simple things, like having the Pantagraph delivered to your door every day by one of our classmates (John Pilant or Marty O'Connor)?  The paper was always folded down and tucked in to form a neat little square that when tossed, sailed through the air to land neatlly on the porch. (hopefully)
~And the milkman from Normal Sanitary Dairy (probably Linda Tomlinson's dad, Barney) delivered milk in glass bottles with a cardboard top.  The cream would float to the top.  ~And you wouldn't dare let it sit out on a cold day because it would freeze, even if the metal milk box was insulated.  Barney delivered milk 7 days a week!
~Mr. Hart delivered our mail.  He brought it right up the sidewalk to the mailbox on our porch.  Imagine!
~Quarantine signs...If you had Chicken Pox in your house, you had a "quarantine" sign from the Health Department on your door, and people were expected to stay away.  One of those signs is probably a collectible by now.
~Teachers:  Our first grade teacher was Miss Cole?  I thought she was gentle, kind and patient; I also thought she was middle-aged.  Now, when I see someone her age I think of her as very young!  Does anyone remember Miss Zimmerman, the librarian?
~Remember driving or riding over Camelback bridge almost fast enough to make the car airborne?
~Picking huge bouquets of violets on the way to school - and making May baskets to hang on people's door knobs?  We have lived in Europe, Hawaii and Florida and I have not picked a violet for over 30 years!
~The annual Tomato Festival in Normal.  I loved the rides and the food.  I got to work in one of the booths and felt very important.
~I actuallly remember that we had an ice-box when I was around four years old.  The ice man came to our house to deliver huge blocks of ice.  We always begged for a piece and he gave us some - a welcome treat on a summer day.  Life was good and still is!
