What's New   Rides

We joined KLMBH in their hash on 7 May 2006 at Sungai Buah, Bangi.

Our report:

Ride type: Long

(approximately 17km, my ride time is 1 hour and 45 minutes including stops at checkpoint and "sesat")

There were a big group of biker from Ampang, i think, that had their bikes on a truck.  I think it was about 25 bikes.  Great to see such enthusiasm.

The first checkpoint was horrible.  It created a traffic mimic the Federal Highway traffic.  It was in the middle of singletrack that was unrideable.  Some of us weren't patience enough and tried to turn back.  However, someone finally found paper to continue the bash.  Pushing the bike up the steep and rooty hill of singletrack was an quite fun after all.  For me it was just another paper trail confusion.. but in a big manner.

Climbing: Mostly moderate climbs, but there were a couple of shorts but steep climbs.  I had very bad chain sucks.  I even cleaned the chain along the running stream and apply wet oil.. and still chain suck.  Finally, a biker from Proton help with and found that the chain suck was caused by loose rubber chain wrap.  I cut away the rubber part that caused the suck and I was flying again.  I did owed the guy a "teh ais" though.

Up

Before any rides, it is strongly recommended that you do the following:

> brake pads - check,

> fork and shock - NOT in lockout position,

> rear derailleur - clean it using small flat screwdriver and lube it.

> cassette - lightly spray with light oil (WD40/GT83),

> front derailleur - lightly spray with light oil,

> chain - lube it,

> tyre pressure - check and pump accordingly.

Just before you pack your stuffs for the next ride, check the weather for suitable cloth and equipment.

If it going to rain :

> use and bring wet lube for your chain,

> bring extra pairs of dry socks and gloves.

If it going to be sunny:

> bring your sun block (SPF 50 is good),

> don't forget your favourite mosquito repellent,

> extra water or energy drinks.

Trails   Races for 2006

We decided to divide the trails based on IMBA trail ratings. The ratings are as follow:

> White Circle : Easy

> Green Circle : Moderate

> Blue Square : Difficult

> Black Diamond : More Difficult

> Double Black Diamond : Extremely Difficult

To rate the trail, we need qualified IMBA rater.  The rating in this website is based on the IMBA rating table, but are not certified by IMBA.  So, ride at your own risk.

More trails coming soon.
