Quite a few questions keep running through my mind...perhaps someone can help me.
When is a state song NOT a state song? "Carry Me Back To Ol' Virginny" was the state song of Virginia for scores of years. Now, because of "political correctness", this song no longer holds that esteemed place in history. This is just one more example of a radical and out of control editing of history by a liberal society who are hell bent on altering history. The song was "dropped" because a small minority of these "historical revisionists" found ONE word in the song offensive..."darkie" (and the inference of slavery). I find many things in this world to be offensive, but I believe that history has become so manipulated that it is barely recognizable from what "I" learned in school. Can you imagine the Kentucky Derby being run without playing "My Old Kentucky Home", or the Swannee River being dammed up and drained because SOME people might be offended by the lyrics. Get over it people....let's get back to real world and stop tampering with traditions. All I can say is "let the music play!"
Who came up with the idea that it was OK to medicate children who are acting up and put the psycho-medical tag on them "attention disorder"...parents are the ones who are not paying attention! I am sure that this "disease" did not come to bear in just the past few years. Children have been "hyper" and unruly for generations and generations. In these times, you can't spank them, you can't punish them, so the only thing left for one to do is .... sedate them. Now children are able to draw social security before they reach puberty because they have a medical disability...they are addicted to strong prescription drugs. I believe that force feeding children any medication is a way for parents to cope with the responsibility of having a child (or children) who are out of control and it is the parent who can not (or will not) deal with reality.
Where are all the parking spaces marked "physically challenged"? All the spaces I see are marked "handicapped". If I am suppose to refer to someone a certain way, wouldn't it make sense for the sign manufacters to have to change the signs? Wouldn't it be more correct?
When did American get a "hyphen? Through my lifetime, people have been called many things because of the color of their skin or their country of orgin. I am not referring to the "N" word but all the other words that distinguish different colors. What a group of people chose to call themselves is really not a big concern of mine. Frankly, I call people by their name and not by the heritage. Hyphenated nationalities are (in my book) simply a reason to instill hatred and cause separation. Irish- Americans, or African-Americans makes no difference. (I would also like to note that a vast majority of black Americans have been in the United States far longer than most of the white immigrants...BE PROUD of that fact...read a history book dated before 1960. Your fellow african counrymen sold you into slavery...except the ones they murdered for being too old or weak). If you are an American citizen...you are an AMERICAN...that is it. Unless you plan or returning to your particular "fatherland" real soon, renouncing your citizenship, and severing all ties to the U.S., than cut out the hyphenated crap.
Hollywood PhD.'s...is everyone is an authority? I really do not care to hear what a particular "movie star" or celebrity has to say about some political issue. Do you think for one moment that I would switch political parties simply because a certain singer said if Clinton were not elected she would leave the country. I really don't care where Barbara Streisand chooses to live. Just because someone makes millions of dollars for a movie or televison role does not make them an authority or "this cause" or "that cause". Professional writers put words on paper and they are paid to read them...they are not paid to come up with original thoughts and convince the American public they actually have a mind. I am all for freedom of speech, but acting, singing, or playing a musical instrument, does not make ANYONE an authority. Please do us all a favor and keep your personal opinions just that....personal.
Do you think it matters to me who sleeps with who? I am really tired of hearing who this person has sex with, who is "out", who is fooling around...who cares who they sleep with. It is quite obvious the the majority of the American people no longer care about sex (unless it is titillating) or even who the president receives sexual services from. I really do not want the evening "news" to be about the the sexual conduct of political or media personalities. The actions of the President of the United States ...yes...Good Ol' Bill...have made us re-think what morality in today's society really means. It has been discussed on talk radio, television, in bars across the Nation, and even from the pulpits of churches throughout the land. For an example of what the Clinton legacy will really be...see here. First of all, extra-marital sex is not news and, second, I know the definition...of "SEX" and "IT".
Why should someone who produces a LEGAL product be found liable for it's misuse. When will the federal government face that fact that people make the choice to abuse a product. People drives cars in a lethal manner but, it is the driver that is responsible, (unless you are named Ted Kennedy). Speaking of Kennedys, I suppose the airplane manufacturers should start preparing for a lawsuit. If anyone would like my feeling about the news circus surrounding the death of The Prince of Camelot... John-John Kennedy, please check here. People over-eat and it is not the food growers who gain the additional pounds. Candy companies are not sent dental bills, so why are tobacco companies (who pay billions annually into federal coffers) and therefore the smokers burdened with paying outrageous settlements for the irresponsible actions of others?
Why do news commentators have to tell us what we just saw and heard on a news programs. They go to great lenghts to explain in detail what was said at a press conference that we just finished watching. The sad part is that their interpretation was simply that...their interpretation. The start of each news cast should be prefaced with the following statement.
Why are liberals trying to re-write the Bill of Rights? Some liberals are calling for the banning of guns. Their argument is the U.S. would be safer without these weapons around...sure would be for all the people who use guns for illegal purposes. If anyone uses a gun in an unlawful manner, no matter what their age, that person is to blame...not society or any other individual. Liberals continue to argue that the founding fathers didn't really mean for people to have the right to bear arms..nor the right to free speech (unless it is to their advantage), or the right to do anything that liberals find offensive. Liberals like to look at the "Bill Of Rights" the same way as they look at the "Ten Commandments"...as only suggestions.
Is "carpet-bagging" back in vogue? I really hope that the State of New York can see that "Ms Hillary" has an agenda that has nothing to do with the needs of New York. She is definitely NOT the type to settle for sitting in the back of the room nor playing "second fiddle" (as the junior Senator) to anyone. The election will be interesting only if ALL the garbage is hauled out and she is finally made to account for HER actions over the past years.
Hot off the MSNBC newswire, in an article written June 3, l999 for the Newhouse News Service, James Lileks writes...
How many Vietnamese in America live in cardboard boxes? I find it a terrible National disgrace that so many of our military veterans are among the homeless of our Nation. We send billons of tax dollars to foreign countries that have nothing but contempt for Americans but the government allows men and women who put their lives on the line to go homeless and without proper medical follow-up. It is time that American tax dollars are spent on Americans. This applies to any man or woman who has put his or her life on the line for their country.
Isn't time that the federal government assumes only the powers granted to it by the Constitution and allows State and local governments to take care of their citizens? Too many federal agencies are telling citizens what they MUST do with their families, businesses, and lives. Now is the time to make changes that will down-size the federal government, reduce federal spending, and allow individuals to benefit from their labors.Bright Rays Of Hope Through the darkest times we are fortunate to be able to fall back on the thoughts of leaders who have led the way to a better world. From the mind of a State Representative from Georgia,Mitchell Kaye comes this bit of wisdom. World leaders also champion the conservative cause. During World War II, Winston Churchil, the man who led England and gave hope to his country offers this revelation.
Perhaps the greatest conservative political mind in the last century has been Ronald Reagan. He was a President who was not afraid to tell the world that America is a great country and tried to persuade the Congress and the American people that lower taxes would benefit the Nation and belief in a prosperous future was more than just a dream. His political views fell on deaf liberal ears and he was "branded" a "senile old man".I cannot imagine a man who had more faith in the American way of life than he. Perhaps, we could all benefit from the expertise that "age" brings to a situation.
For a long time the words of liberals went unanswered. There was no voice proclaiming the truth, no one to carry the banner of the Conservative movement.
Out of the bowels of the EIB studio, came the voice of one man...Rush Limbaugh

Talk radio has not been the same since. No conservative (or liberal) has to be told of the amazing impact this man has had on spreading the truth to the American people via the air-waves. The responding and resounding echo of "dittos" can be heard around the world. Rush Limbaugh gave voice to conservative thoughts...and gave courage to men and women to champion their own cause.
