ACC Recruiting Classes Ranked:

North Carolina

- The North Carolina Tar Heels hauled in another top-notch recruiting class. Their 5star of the class is Jason Parker. Parker, a 6'8 Elton Brand clone out of Fork Union Military School absolutely dominated his post-graduate league. Infact, when he played against the North Carolina JV squad he scored 27 points, while grabbing 10 rebounds. In the Hoop Challenge he was named MVP, while scoring 22 points, and pulling down 11 boards.

Brian Morrison, a 6'2 gunner of out Lake Washington also is a top 20 prospect. Morrison can not only shoot like a sharpshooter, but has an enormous vertical leap. He also has a feel for the game, and can pass like a PG. He plays with endless effort and is very determined. He was named MVP of the Roundball Classic with 19 points. If Morrison hailed from Florida, or North Carolina, he most likely would have been chosen as a Mcdonalds All-American. Most people compare him to Florida's Teddy "big play" Dupay. Although, in most people mind's he was better than Dupay at the High School level.

Neil Fingelton, a 7'6 Center who hails from Massachusets will most likely not make an immediate impact. Fingelton played in 3 big time all-star games and only made an impact in the Capital Classic. He had 7 blocks. In the Mcdonalds game he struggled mightly, along with Nike All-American game. Although, rest assured, with common sense, you would know that an unpolished 7'6 Center can not run the court with the new modern age players a la Darius Miles, Jarred Jeffries etc...Therefore, he could play that much during the games.

Adam Boone, a 6'2 Point Guard out of Minnetonka High School in Minnesota may infact start next year for the Tar Heels. Boone not only brings his athletic ability to the table, but he also displays great leadership when on the court. Boone is a streaky shooter. For example, he never caught fire in the Capital Classic nor the first half of the Hoops Challenge. Although, in the second half he hit 3 after 3, and eventually was named Co-team MVP.

North Carolina State

- Scooter Sherrill(6'3) was named "Mr. Basketball" of North Carolina, which is always a great honor. Sherrill played in the Mcdonalds game and the Roundball. He was solid, not special, not poor. At West Rowan he averaged 24 points and 7 rebounds and 4.5 steals. At West Rowan he won a state championship. An amazing stat is that during his tenure at West Rowan they are 98-15.` He will provide instant offense for the Wolfpack.

Michael Bell, a 6'10 Power Forward has enourmous potential. Right now, he is very thing and need's to hit the weight room. He can be a very versatile player for the pack. Bell, with his thin frame, is pretty good on the perimeter for a 6'10 player. He averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds at Enloe, where he played with Maryland bound Chris Wilcox. Bell, is a fearless competitor, as he never takes a possesion off.

A 6'9 220 Power Forward by the name of Marcus Melvin is also attending the loaded Pack. Melvin played at Douglass Byrd where he averaged 16/12. Although, Melvin was never left 1 on 1. Melvin has a lefty stroke. Melvin is also very versatile, as he can play both Forward position, and some Center.

There last, and final recruit of the year was PG Trey Guidry. Charles "Trey" Guidry is a tall(6'3) and versatile PG. His main strength is shooting the ball. A portion of the Pack fan's I associate with were dissapointed in not getting a "superstar" recruit. Saying Guidry will be a 4 year backup. Well, not so fast my friend. Trey attracted major attention from the likes of National Champion Michigan State, final four contestant Wisconsin, sweet 16 team Syracuse, and also Clemson and Pitt. This class is an easy second in the ACC.

Clemson

- Dwon Clifton is the star of this class. Clifton, a star out of High Point, NC, has awesome talent. With the combination of Clifton and Will Soloman, there will a lot of high scoring games this year. Clifton, earlier in the year, was ranked top 10 by national gurus, but after struggling at tournaments, his stock fall. Clifton's stats were 24 points, and 9 rebounds.

Point guard Tony Stockman out of Medina,Ohio, can flat out score. Stockman, at the hoops challenge, wasn't at all scared to shoot. He shot from anywhere and everywhere. Stockman's speciality is his passes, the no look's he pulls in games are truly amazing. Tony, being 6'1 165, should be a fine contributer at Clemson, as he is apart of a great recruiting class for the Clemson Tigers.

Power Forward, Chris Hobbs, what an intriguing story he has. Hobbs, has a Freshman, was the same height is he know, or close to it. He was a 6'8 muscle packed Freshman and many thought would be a top five recruit, as he was at the time. Many thought Hobbs would be a battle between UNC and Duke. Well, Hobbs hasn't grown since that, and he also tore an ACL. At 6'8 260 out of East Chapel Hill, Hobb's dominates the glass. If he returns to form, he could be a steal.

6'8 185 "athlete" De'on Dixon will be a useful tool for the Tigers. Dixon is a stringbean for his size. He can handle the ball real well, and can block shots.Dixon hails from Fayetteville, NC, where he attends 71st. As we wrap this up, it looks the like Tide cleaned up in North Carolina, grabbing 3 of the top 10 players in NC.

Florida State

-Michael Joiner, in my opinion, the top prospect hailing from North Carolina, inked to play for Steve Robinson's Seminoles. Joiner has a silky smooth(Vitale) game, as he has tremendous athletic ability. With his athletic ability in the paint, he dominates. Joiner can grab rebounds and score consistantly for you. At 6'8 210, watch out for Joiner next year.

Their latest addition was JUCO star Monte Cummings. At 6'4 180 Cummings is a dynamite athlete. With Cummings, Joiner, and J.D. Bracey FSU as a load of athletes to replace Ron Hale. Cummings was a highly rated Junior College star according to many.

Small Forward J.D. Bracey is an awesome scorer. Although, he doesn't have that good of a shot, he's too small for a forward slot. He's very athletic, as he is very good on the offensive boards. His slashing ability is excellent.

Point Guard Ryan Lowry hails from North Carolina(FUMA). Lowry is an insurance policy, and will give some quality minutes off the bench for Delvon Arrington. Ryan Lowry, rarely makes mistakes, and is a player you can trust with the ball in his hands.

Andrew Wilson is the ideal Small Forward. As he can shoot the rock baby! Wilson also brings his grit and toughness to the table. This is a major recruiting coup by Steve Robinson, as we feel Wilson is highly underrated.

Duke

-Chris Duhon, is the best Freshman in the ACC. Duhon has a machine like shot, and has tremendous hops. The thing that impresses me most, is how unselfish he is. He loves passing. At the roundball he said " I want to try and get the most assists". Although he is the best Freshman, that does not guarntee he will be the best Freshman performer.

Andre Sweet, a 6'6 SF out of NY also inked with Duke. Although I think Duke reached a bit on Sweet, he is a tough player. He is compared to Chris Carrawell because of his versatility.

Maryland

- The main signee of this class was potential superstar Chris Wilcox. Wilcox runs and finishes. It will provide tremendous bench play for the Terrapins along with offensive star Byron Mouton.

Andre Collins is a superquick 5'8 scoring star. He also will give Steve Blake rest time, as Collins could be a sparkplug off the bench. Collins comes from Crisfield, Maryland.

Maryland also inked 7'3 Center project out of Dematha by the name of Matt Slaninka. Matt is a REAL project, has he RARELY got playing time at Dematha.

Georgia Tech

-The key to this class is special shooter Marvin Lewis. Lewis, who comes from Montrose Christian and was coached by Stu Vetter. Lewis, who before the year was basically just a shooter, has rounded out his game to become one of the top 50 recruits in the nation.

6'6 sharp shooter Halston Lane will provide more shooting to the Yellow Jackets with Lewis. Lane, who played for Oak Ridge, set the record for Points and Rebounds.

Wake Forest

- Wake Forest signed two players. PG A.W. Hamilton and Center project Dshamal Schoetz. Their recruiting class isn't all that good, therefore, no summary =).

Virginia

- The Cav's lone signee was Maurice "Mo" Young. Young hails from Maryland and is a top 100 recruit.
