Firstly it was great to finally get a home game. The conditions were perfect for a good game of football. It was an even start by both teams in what was a tough physical first quarter. We kicked a couple of goals late in the quarter to give us an early lead. It wasn't until the second quarter that we began to take control of the game. As the game progressed it became evident that Manurewa was more concerned with playing the man than the ball. Holding them totally scoreless until late in the third quarter was a great achievement and a special thanks to some great defence. Running out 9-10 goal winners showed exactly how dominant we were all around the park. Clinton as always was rock solid in defence with Froggy proving too much for Robbie Hart who got himself moved off Steve and onto the ball to get some kicks. First gamers Garters and Sharpy were impressive on debut with Sharpy earning best on ground. In all everyone contributed allot to this win in what was our most complete effort so far this season. Next week brings Mt Roskill unbeaten and probably our toughest challenge this year. Another complete team effort will be required to beat them, but I believe that from our last few performances that if anyone is going to beat them it will be University.
