Opportunities to Serve |
Our Youth Education Services happen each Sunday because of our dedicated and loving volunteers and staff. We welcome all to come join us as weekly or occasional volunteers. We all have talents and God given gifts to share, and what better way to give than to give to children. Here are a few ways in which to volunteer, should you think of a way that is not listed, please share your ideas with our Youth Director. Team Teacher: someone at least 21 years of age who seeks to express the indwelling of Christ. Must love children and realize that the Truth is a gift from God already within each student and that the teacher’s task is to create an environment to awaken this gift. Must have a good understanding of Unity Principles and demonstrate leadership skills and reliability. The Team Teacher will agree to follow the lesson topic as determined by the Youth Ministry. The team teacher may then choose to use the activities available or to come up with their own creative plan. Team teachers should plan to teach 2 Sunday’s per month. Team Helper: someone at least 18 years of age or has completed High School and has the heart and enthusiasm to help the teacher and lend their time and talent to our young people. This may include, but is not limited to, taking a toddler for a ‘de-meltdown’ walk, helping to organize song time, games and crafts, making copies or whatever is needed. No prep time is required; though it is necessary to have read through the week’s lesson prior to class. How involved you want to be depends on the Christ within. Team Helpers should plan to assist two Sunday’s per month. Substitutes: someone at least 18 years of age. This person must enjoy being with children and be able to step in and lead or help in a class. All materials will be prepared for the Substitute and they should expect a regular team member in the class with them to assist with how the class is normally run. Snack Angels: bring snacks for our youth on Sunday Mornings. This is done on a rotating basis, usually every six to eight weeks. Greeters: someone with a warm smile who can make our families feel welcomed. Should plan on arriving by 10:10, assisting and greeting all families that walk into the YFM Area. Will be able to attend service at 10:35 a.m. Office Assistant: available to come to the church a few hours a week to assist the Youth Director in preparing for Sunday Mornings lessons, making copies, gathering supplies, etc… Special Events Team: there are many special events throughout the year that require planning and executing. You may sign up to help with one or with a series of events. The duties and responsibilities vary. |
