In the ranks of Bible believing Christians the word "revival" is one of the most exciting. It speaks of making that, that is dead alive again, and of awakening that, that is asleep or unconscious. Revival speaks of restoration of backsliders, full altars, fervency in prayer, and an outpouring of God's Spirit. Revival is God responding to our faith in action.
Revival is marked by consecration and evangelism. It is a renewed desire to serve God, to be used of God, to read the Bible, be a witness, to purify our heart and mind, and to live holy. Revival will bring people to repent of pride, stubbornness, selfwill, rebellion, and worldliness.
When the church is in revival the saints are on fire for God. There is a zeal for all that is holy. There is enthusiasm for the study of the Word. There is an eagerness to get on the front lines of battle and deal the devil a defeat. There is an avid desire to be used of God, to glorify the name that is above every name—the name JESUS, our Lord and our God.
When we get revived our excitement touches others. They are moved to want our experience with God. When we are revived sinners want to be saved, spiritual babies are born, and the church grows.
Isn't "revival" wonderful? Let's keep the fires of revival burning. Keep throwing fuel on the fire. Keep believing. Keep walking right, reaching out, and reaching up. |
