Wednesday the Fifteenth of March, I went with Erin to SeaWorld for Mary's Birthday.  In the picture is Erin, Tasha, Mary, and Whitney, all from Scripps Mira Mesa College.  We had a great time, even though I had just met them that day, and I took a bunch of pictures.

The Wild Arctic Exhibit was a lot of fun, especially since tourists don't usually get to see the Belugas interact with the trainers.  They were really affectionate, and just seemed to want the attention that they get all day from the tourists.  We also got to hear why they are sometimes called the canaries of the sea, as they tried to get the trainer's attention by making sounds.  It was awesome to get to see them so active and pushing out of the water so much just so the trainer could pet them.

At the interactive dolphin show, we got to see some pretty amazing stunts, and I think this picture pretty much sums it up.  Dolly is a dolphin with, as the trainers put it, an incredible ability to jump, so they used a rope as a herdle to demonstrate this behavior, and dolly easily cleard the twenty-plus foot obstacle.  We got soaked sitting so close to the tank, but I got some pretty good pictures of the animals.

The Dolphin Show also had a couple of Pilot Whales in it.  they were the one that went around and splashed us in the crowd.

The Killer whale show was awesome.  It was as much a learning experience as a demonstration of the Killer Whale's incredible combination of size and power and quickness and agility.  They also demonstrated their gentle interaction with the trainers in the acrobatic stunt to the left.  It was really an awesome show.
