CAUTION: THE WALL MUST BE SOLID AND STURDY ENOUGH TO WITHSTAND THE ANTICIPATED IMPACTS. Lengths of slotted angles can be used. The two foot sections will be mounted to the BOARDHOLDER, and the six foot lengths will be mounted to the wall. Proceed as follows: |
NOTE: If the angles have different hole patterns on each side, make sure matching hole patterns are used for the sides that will extend from the wall so that holes on the 2 and 6 foot sections extending from the wall will line up. |
A. Assemble the two 2 foot sections to the back of the BOARDHOLDER so each one extends vertically approximately 6 inches above and below the TOP and BOTTOM of the BOARDHOLDER with one side of the angle to fit flush against the SIDE of the BOARDHOLDER and the other side of the angle extending behind and against the rear edge of the SIDE. Holes of the sections on the right and left sides must line up. Angle can be screwed to SWE of BOARDHOLDER but you may need to (1) Use washers to prevent screw heads from passing through holes in angle; and (2) use scrap plywood or cleat material where screw passes through SIDE to give the screw additional material to “Bite” into. |
B. For “Dry Fit” attach 6 foot sections of angle to 2 foot sections in approximately the center of the 6 foot sections 50 that one side of 6 foot section is fiat agalnst the side of the 2 foot section that is against the SIDE of the BOARDUOLDER and the other side extends away from the BOARDHOLDER making sure holes on 2 and 6 foot sections line up, using two sets of nuts and bolts to hold 2 foot section to 6 foot section at matching holes (one set just above and one just below where 2 foot section meets side of BOARDHOLDER) and a flat washer between where the and 6 foot sections meet on one side to provide some play between 2 and 6 foot sections when final mounting is completed so that the 2 foot sections can easily move up and down between the 6 foot sections. |
C With BOARDHOLDER assembled to the 6 foot sections place entire unit against wail with the top of the 6 foot sections at approximately 8 feet (or other desired maximum height where center of Boards at highest level is approximately one foot below top of 6 foot angles). Mark location where 6 foot angles are to be mounted to the wall, disassemble 6 foot sections from 2 foot sections, and use appropriate fasteners (minimum 4 each side) for type of wali construction to properly secure 6 foot sections to the wall. |
D. Use two 2 foot 3/8 inch metal rods, I above and 1 below BOARDHOLDER, through 4 matching holes in the 2 foot sections and 6 foot sections, to position BOARDHOLDER at desired height. HAPPY BREAKING |
OPTIONAL ITEMS |
A. Corner braces can be used to reinforce SIDE to TOP/BOTTOM and FRONT to TOP/BOTTOM . Use two braces for each corner, each, 3 inches from center. (Drill pilot holes before using screws.) |
B. An extra set of handles can be used for easier handling. Position as desired making sure no screw points protrude into “Throat” of BOARDHOLDER. |
C. A pair of "HAND HOLDS" can be cut, one in each SIDE near TOP. Cut holes and sand all edges. |
