Picton
Picton is a little town on the northern end of the South Island of New Zealand.  I got into Picton on the Interislander ferry that runs across Cook Strait from Wellington to Picton.  So I took the ferry on 7 February and stayed in Picton that night.  Quaint little town, but not a whole lot to do there.  It's quite popular though, as it is situated in the beautiful Marlborough Sounds and grape growing/wine making has become popular in the area recently.  I took the train out of Picton on 8 February.
Picton Harbor.  Unfortunately it was cloudy the day I got into Picton, but I heard they have an unusually high number of sunny days compared with the rest of New Zealand.
One of the many commemorations to Captain James Cook who explored the coast of New Zealand in the late 1700's.
A view of Queen Charlote Sound, which Picton is situated in.  I heard there is a very nice hiking track along this sound.
A view from the train from Picton to Christchurch.  Very pastoral outside Picton.  I'm surprized this picture didn't capture any sheep.
Ah, black sand beaches and beautiful country and crashing waves.  I could definitely get used to this!
To Chirstchurch!
