Meiji Romantic Story Files

NOTE:  This is the history WITHIN of the series, not how the series was made.  In other words, this is the Tsuiokuhen OVA summary.  Sorry for the confusion^_^

Summary:  The story all started around 150 years ago,(not sure).  A little boy named Shinta was just walking with his adoptive family,(3 sisters), and another group of people,(caravan).  All seems to go well, until the caravan is attacked by a group of bandits.  Meanwhile, a skilled swordsman just happened to be by, pondering and drinking sake.  Anyway, the whole caravan is nearly killed, until the 3 sisters and Shinta.  The 3 sisters did their best to protect Shinta, and their last words were that he had to live, because his life has not yet been determined.  Finally, the last sister died, and Shinta picks up a sword to fight.  Just when he is about to die, the skilled swordsman came and killed the group of bandits.  Lucky for Shinta, he didn't kill him either.  The swordsman left with wise words, and when he came back, he saw that there had been graves where the attack was made.  He saw that Shinta has made graves for all the people who died, even though he'd only been with them for a very short time.  He felt weak in not being able to protect them, so then the swordsman takes Shinta in as a student to train in swordsmanship.  The swordsman finally tells Shinta that his name is Hiko Seijuro and he must learn his master's name well.  He also changes Shinta's name to Kenshin as it suits a swordsman more.  The sword technique that Hiko teaches Kenshin is Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu.  Over the years of training, Kenshin grew stronger and his body grew everyday.  The only thing that didn't improve was his mind.  Hiko always said that his mind was still that of a child.  Eventually, after long years of training, Kenshin left Hiko's training and joined the Tokugawa Shogunate Rebellion.  His skills were amazing, even without the completion of his training.  Anyway, he worked for a man named Katsura,(I think that's how you spell it), and his organization.  He always gave Kenshin important assassinations and Kenshin didn't even care.  He said he doesn't need a specific reason to kill someone, so as long as they need to be dead.  However, on one mission, he killed a watch officer, who will soon be important in the story.  This man is the one who gave Kenshin the first part of his scar.  Soon after, while he was going back to the hitokiri hideout,(stupid name I know), another assassin caught up with Kenshin.  That same night, Tomoe,(fiance of the man of gave Kenshin his scar), was also walking home after drinking at a bar.  While Kenshin and the other assassin fought in an alley, Tomoe was heading the same way.  Just as Tomoe saw the 2 fighting, Kenshin killed the assassin, and spilled some blood on himself as well as Tomoe.  Kenshin was wondering if he should kill Tomoe as well, but Tomoe ended up fainting.  Kenshin decided to take her to the hideout,(which is also a hotel), and let her stay the night.  The next morning, Kenshin was surprised to see that she was working in the hotel, and asked the manager that she let Tomoe go.  The hotel manager said no, and Kenshin was furious.  The other hitokiris in the hideout were asking about her, and soon Katsura wanted to find more information about her.  After finding out some information, he asked Tomoe if he would be Kenshin's "sheathe."  This basically meant that she stay with Kenshin and protect him from being a complete killing machine, and make him stay human.  She agrees, and soon a battle was to begin.  The Shinsengumi,(the current dominating force of Japan), were to attack the rebellion.  The attack started while Kenshin and Tomoe are away at a bar.  It seems that the Shinsengumi have the upper hand, and soon Kenshin joins the battle.  Tomoe does her best to stop Kenshin, but he fights anyway.  Of course, Kenshin won against all the Shinsengumi that attack him, (most powerful assassin).  Meanwhile, Saito Hajime and his little "sidekick" are looking for Kenshin, while killing more of the rebellion members.  They have no luck finding Kenshin, as Kenshin fights and finds his way to Katsura.  Katsura was to escape up until Kenshin and Tomoe found him, and Katsura said that the battle is lost and they cannot win.  Knowing this, he asks Kenshin and Tomoe to hide out in the outskirts of Kyoto for a while, until they have a better comeback.  Not only that, but he wants Kenshin and Tomoe to cover up and pretend to be a married couple.  Katsura figures that people will look for a hitokiri but not a happily married man.  They do so, and shortly after, Kyoto is burned down and the Shinsengumi obviously won.  A month later, we see Kenshin and Tomoe living together to what we see as the country.  Kenshin and Tomoe both start growing crops and seem to be getting used to the peaceful life.  Tomoe starts to help Kenshin realize that there is more to life than that of a killer's life.  That's not all.  During their time together, it seems that Tomoe starts to fall in love with Tomoe, who thought she would never love again.  Also, Kenshin starts to fall in love with Tomoe,(he even asks her to marry him for real).  Shortly after, Tomoe's brother Enishi,(who seems to be working for a group of hitokiris wanting to kill Kenshin), finds Tomoe and warns her that Kenshin will soon be dead and that she should join him and go back home.  It was then when Tomoe realized that Kenshin killed her fiance.  Then, one morning, Kenshin finds that Tomoe was missing.  He finds that one of his comrades visits and says that she knows that he killed her fiance.
